Hazel - :rotfl: I was saving slatterns and sluts for the next occasion, break him in gently-like ;) His 13yo brother is a bit more canny ... he's been looking up "rude" words since he was in Yr5, so he's more likely to win that round :o :rotfl: Bear in mind that d13 was the numpty who, when the class was asked "Which group of people have large hair, come from the Carribean and like reggae (sp?)" his spontaneous reply was: "Aphrodisiacs" methinks he should have read more than merely "rude" words
Hope you find your way out of the grumps sooner rather than later - have a grump-busting ((hug)) :D:D:D

Oooh donny-gal - your home must smell divine with all those flowers! :T I know I shouldn't, but your DH and his burning shoulder did make me chuckle (thankfully he wasn't hurt!). Reminded me of the time my SIL used to wear false nails and lit a match in preparation for having a cigarette - her attention was distracted and her false nail began to melt as a reminder :o Enjoy your retirement :T :T

Ika - yes, you are quite right about feathered friends! My garden has looked soooo empty since Silky died; can't wait to bring Lacy & Cottontop home :D:D

catowen - ((hugs)) Men!! They can be real numpty turnips at times. Deep breaths ... then carry on regardless ;) Surely it's more important that the children feel comfortable with their identity? If they want your name, then indulge them. It's *their* name, afterall ;)

Well, the car has passed her MOT (not surprisingly, I'd have been marching back to the garage I bought her from if she hadn't!) but hadn't realised the MOT had gone up to £50. Not that it was a problem, had it put by, it's just it took me a bit by surprise. I'm sure it wasn't that much last year!

Our MOT last year was £48, so I can look forward to a hike this year, I have a feeling it goes up at the same time as the road tax, but would not swear to it.................

Well I've just totted up last weeks spend.

Budget for groceries £50 - spent £48.40! yay
    First week on budget

Spend on other things £60 (but that did include £12 on new clothes for young un and £22 on juicer from arogs reduced from £50)

We've managed to make a packed lunch every day for DH and me (saving about £10-£15) and in town today I resisted the temptation to buy any little extras.

We're also trying to see if we can cut gym membership and still get fit.
DH has done gym at home or run or yoga every morning so far and I'm counting my steps.

    steps: (target for health 10,000)
    wednesay 19,456
    Thursday 16,543
    Friday 13,452
    Saturday (so far 13,894)

We have a home gym + weights but I use the stepper and captains chair alot at the gym for bum and abs and chest. Cost of gym membership = £25/month.
Cost of captians chair =£110 (reduced at argos) what do you think? cancel gym and get chair?

Going to a wedding party at 3pm today - cost of present (good) bottle of bubbly given to us which we won't drink - nil, cost of card and bottle bag £1.50 from wilkinsons. They are feeding us and the party will entertain little un so we'll actually probably save about £5 - yay!!

    (skinflint and proud of it)
DEBT: £500 credit card £800 Bank overdraft
    £14 Weekly food budget

Good Morning all & Birthday wishes to those who qualify.
It's very wet here in Berkshire so chat with Thumper & Ogden was very brief today.
The lodgers away tonight so hubby & I have the house to ourselves, we can have wild sex anywhere we like! I expect we'll settle for an early night & a cup of cocoa.
New lodger is arriving tomorrow & I need to find out what time she's arriving as it's DD1 birthday & her hubby is doing lunch for us all.
I've got another set of curtains to do this weekend & also some rice bags, so I will be busy.
Hugs to everyone, especially PenPin, sorry you aren't feeling well enough to post regularly.

Wow, halia, WTG!!!! Some good savings there :T Congrats on your step count too! :j

Hmm, gym vs captains chair? It's the equivalent of just slightly over 4 mths gym membership fee's sooooooo, on the surface, I would say, yes go for it. But then you need to consider - do you have the space for it? Would it end up being used as a clothes horse? How will you maintain your motivation, are you self motivated?

I speak as one who has a trampet at home (owned), a hydrolic step machine (loaned), a tummy banana thingy (loaned), an exercise bike (owned), numerous exercise video's; all lay dormant and I have recently signed up at the gym again for the focus of actually getting out of the house and *making* myself attend - the trampet is in my lounge decorating the space behind a side table next to the sofa but for some reason, getting it out seems to be an R's but going to the gym seems a bit more social and an 'event' and more sort of ... do-able?? Weird, I know, but hence my questions  Only you know for sure how self motivated and determined you are and whether it is worth it to *you*. Good luck in deciding :)

csarina - ah, you might well be right about last year's costs. Much of last year is still shrouded in an emotional fog, so I wasn't too clear about how much it was. Still, as you know, my road tax has drastically reduced, so a £2 hike doesn't seem too bad now you've mentioned it :D:D:D Cheers m'dear

:bdaycake: To everyone who's it is!

    Afternoon everybody,
Had to go out arly, so was a while getting on here! Got my hair dyed yesterday, now brown, but as I already had red underneath, it's got coppery highlights, really like it! Went mad then, and had my nails done, and eyebrows waxed:eek: Typing this with my nails, as fingers don't reach anymore:rotfl:

DS has his mate round, they're both as mad as each other!

DD is coming for dinner tomorrow with her OH. She scalded herself yesterday serving soup to a patient, the lid of the jug came off. She seems to be okay tho.

    Have a good day all!

Haven't read the thread yet today, but just had to post to announce...... drumroll, trumpets, and other noisy fanfares

    I'm back on broadband:j :j :j :j

Oh, the sheer joy! I'll not have to clockwatch all the time, I'll be able to login again (had to dispense with that 'cos it was all taking toooooo long:D ) and consequently post and thank again.

But wouldn't you just know I've got a really busy day today, so I'll have to keep popping in and out.;) Going to stay logged in all the time, just because I can:rotfl: :rotfl:

Just had a torrential downpour so had to go rescue DS and GF who had left the house two minutes earlier in sunshine!!!!! Crazy weather:rolleyes:

Hope you're having good days, off to catch up now.

    Hi all,

Was up nice and early at 6:30am, put a washing on and had that hung outside for 7:30am (it was sunny then), washes a few random things, organised bottles for taking to the bottle bank. DS (2 1/2) GOT UP AT 7:30AM so had to get him dressed/fed. DH woke up at 8:30am so I just grabbed my bag and out the door for 8:40am as I had an hair appointment at 9am.

    Was there for 1/2 hour.

Nipped into Boots: spent £1 of my points on 5 x Cadbury cream eggs and rechargeable battery (gave battery to my mum and 3 x eggs to sisters).

Went to Tescos to use a 25 points vouchers for spending £1 on bread, cakes etc so brought random things just over £1 so I could get my points. I love collecting points.... anyway spent £5.98, less 50p coupon and free Sun coupon (55p), less £3.17 for DH stuff so actual cash layout £1.76 (got 75 points back on my clubcard). Got given 2 yoguarts outside Tesco as there was some promo thing.

Then off to top up car with a little petrol spent £5.05 on petrol and bread 10p. Found £20 note lying on the ground. :T(Gave my mum £5, £1 DS bank account, £2 scratch card, £2 lottery so kept £10. )

Then went to our local shopping centre, recycled bottles, posted my friends 30th birthday present/card. Put money into the bank for me and DS. Brought £2 scratch card, £2 lottery ticket.

[FONT=&quot]Dropped off 3 x cream eggs, battery, £2 scratch card, £2 lottery ticket at my mums before heading home.

Hung up the washing inside as it started raining outside.

Was going to go swimming with family but there was an Orange band march going on and part of street closed, no parking etc. so had to turn back.

Went to Toys R US. DH brought son a toy boat he promised him. i got a free magazine as used my Toys R Us card.

Then went home, had lunch, did dishes now sitting surfing the net. :-)

    Afternoon all,

Happy birthday to all celebrating to day, hugs to all in need or want and commiserations to anyone affected in any way by the dreadful weather.

Already typed long post about my cat who is 12 and MIA since we have been away, DS3 has been leaving food, which was disappearing but didn't see Luca...trying to think that he is just miffed because we have been away so long but have a funny feeling....he did this once before and turned up days later, so maybe.

Really nice here to-day, tired as DD4 and DGS2 were very late arriving last night and I had to kick myself out of bed this am to do some shopping and pay some bills. We had a brunch type breakfast as OH spotted some seatrout BOGOF and couldnt resist so we had that with salad hm fries and brown bread around 12 so dinner will be something very simple such as pasta.

Had a letter from my old department, because I wanted no fuss or party I have got €500 in vouchers which can be used more or less anywhere so that is more for Oz fund, all I have to do now is decide when to go and start pricing things...suppose I should check with rellies what timing will suit them but have to suit myself too...last time was March April and it was very pleasant.

OH watching Wimbledon, will have to knock that 'I'm on holiday' mind set out of him....

Hope that everyone has a great weekend

    Marie.
