Windows 8.1

For myself - being very much into my technology each upgrade does bring noticeable improvements and it is a little annoying to hear people saying "windows 8 is rubbish" and windows 8.1 despite taking so long to install (it really should come with a proper "this may take hours" warning) has given a lot of people what they wanted. I mean wasn't everybody moaning about where the start button went - now it's back and everybody is still moaning!
I agree that at its core, Windows 8 and 8.1 are good systems and personally I don't care over-much about the Start Button, or lack of, since I start everything via the Run box.
But I suspect most people actually wanted the Start Menu back, the entry point to which was, of course, the Start Button. The Start Menu was also a useful entry point to Windows Search.
Instead they got a start button which simply takes them to the Start Screen which is not the same thing at all. 8.0 had that functionality, for what it was worth, by pressing the Windows key!0
