I just let my laptop upgrade from 8 to 8.1
What a parlava
It took ages and ages with lots of silly messages.
Why does it take so long?

Because it has to remove all the old carp from version 8.0...?0

I know and its no better now is it?
Certainly don't like what they have done to windows mail.0 -
The upgrade process is about as awkward as could be - never understood why MS didn't just make 8.1 a service pack to 8.0.
They no doubt have their reasons, but convenience of the customer wasn't one of them!0 -

roll on Windows 9.. this one's been another disaster.0

Why is it that every other edition of Windows is awful and not as good as the one before? XP good, Vista rubbish, 7 good, 8 rubbish, and don't get me started on Millenium Edition. (post written on my trusty netbook running XP)0

Went to bed on 8,got up on 8.1.
Did I miss something?0 -
windows 8.1 is notably better than 8, in my opinion.
You can even boot straight to desktop so it's hardly different from W7 now.
Little arrow at bottom left of metro screen brings up the contents of the erstwhile W7 start button.
After spending a short while getting used to it it seems mighty fine to me. But you're all welcome to your opinions of course!
And I can't imagine W9 will not have a similar learning curve attached to it, nor niggly problems from the outset. I look forward to all the complaints about it when it does come out ;-)Friendly greeting!0
