Out of interest, is paying on the 1st strictly OK? Or does the current tax disc technically expire at midnight on 28/2, such that purchasing the replacement online on 28/2 (after being paid) would be the 100% correct way to do this?

Hi guys. My tax is due on the 28th but I don't get paid till the 29th.

What are my options besides bank of mom and dad?

Pay on credit card? But pay off as soon as bill comes in
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • Lol sorry, due on 27th, get paid the next day. I don't have a cheque book unfortunately, I heard of things call cheques though :p

I think I'll phone the dvla and see what they say because their fines are all automated now, don't want a fine.

Buy it on the 28th then?

I think you are worrying about nothing

you get paid on the 28th February and on sat 1st march go into the post office and tax your car

your tax dsic runs out on the Friday and you re tax it on Saturday you wont get a fine for that

My tax disk expires on the 28th. I have a dvla letter in front of me stating the same. Also... It's not fake.

I won't wait for an apology, but just assume I'm not completely stupid. :p

Anywho I got it figured out now, it's sorted.

Buy it online on the 1st, it will be ok.
They allow a few days before they prosecute you for non-payment and non-displaying.

Really can you post a link to that...once tax expires he fine can start from that date...

You said 27th a couple of posts before, wish you'd get it right.
And it's midnight on the 28th so as already stated just tax it on the morning of the 1st - what don't you understand about that?
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
  • Just risk it, If it is only one day over, I am sure you will be okay. I have done it many times.
  • Technically, according to the DVLA, if you tax it online up to midnight on the day it expires you can still drive the car while you are waiting for the disc to arrive. Do it online on the 1st and you have to wait for the post.
  • Buy it at the Post Office & pay by cheque, your wages will be in the bank by the time they cash the cheque. You might think cheques are outdated but they do have their uses!

Poor advice, I'm afraid. I paid for something at the post office last month by cheque, and the cheque went through my bank account the same day.
