Unplug it, or take out the batteries.

That'll stop it coming on by itself.
I tried that with a Furby I had when younger

    It STILL made noises

  • This was happening with my bedroom TV and I was sure I was being haunted! ......... really spooked ........... until it finally dawned on me that my DGS had been playing with the remote, and must have set a timer. Still don't know how to stop it, but at least now it's quite nice going up to bed and the TV is on to welcome me!

My digital radio that I've had for several years started switching itself on (very loudly) in the early hours a few months ago. I think it must have an alarm function that I know nothing about which has somehow been accidentally activated. Switching it off on the wall prevents it from happening.

We all know that Furbys are possessed by the devil though ;)

OP, I think it's time for a new radio.
  • A few times when my daughter little, I would get up in the middle of the night and hear "voices" realising that it was the radio which had come on in the kitchen. :rotfl:

In my case, I figured out that the problem was: during the day I would put the radio on, but as we had really bad reception where we lived, it would lose it's signal and go silent. I would then forget that I had turned it on and during the night the signal would return and the radio would start up again.

In my spare room there is an iPod dock with radio and a touch lamp.
A lot of the time if I walk in there the lamp comes on, when I turn off the lamp the radio comes on.

    Nope, I have dodgy wiring.

I wouldn't worry. One of my bedside lamps (touch lamp) turns itself on!

That'll be the spiders walking across it

OP, I remember when I was around 10 - the radio wasn't plugged in, there weren't batteries in it, but I could hear what sounded like the police radio thingies on it if I put my ear to it.

    Weird.

I am guessing with yours it's something that's an option like a sleep button. I have several settings on my old alarm clock - one meant it seemed to turn itself on when I wasn't expecting it at random times of the day. I think it was something to do with hitting a sleep (not snooze) button, or having a second alarm set on it.

  • I remember when I first met my partner. We'd turn the tv off in his room and come back later and it would be on, even happened during the night which started to freak us out. Went on for a while until one day it did it when I was in the room, we realised then that if we had set a reminder for a programme it would turn itself on for it

I suffered from lamps being turned on when I moved in to this house. Most people reckoned it was down to dodgy wiring.

What they couldn't explain was how the switches were also in the 'on' position.
