I'm trying to decide whether to take the offer of getting a 3rd box free with Riverford, they are trying to tempt me back. They do all sorts of boxes and I'm thinking of maybe trying a fruit, veg and meat box for 3 weeks, maybe every other week. I don't know will play with numbers later and see whether it's worth it.
.
We used to get a Riverford box regularly, then stopped and have recently restarted (had our 3rd free box on Tuesday!) We get the small veg box (now called medium I think ) every fortnight. We're not overrun with veg but it's nice to get a treat once in a while (I've got asparagus this week which nobody else in the house eats it!)
It was a nsd for me today, we had lasagne tonight which I made last night with mince from the freezer and the last of some dodgy veg. Bread has just come out of the machine. We'll probably need milk again tomorrow and maybe ham but think that should be it.Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz

Whoops! Forgot to post for a few days, I blame being sick 4 days and then working overtime to make up hours!
Food so far this week we've spent £22.15, so with £22.82 last week it looks like that's around our average. Going to up the budget to £25 for next week.

Well I've been on a couple of supermarket visits this week and spent around £70, which has included household things such as foil and toilet paper as well as on offer toothpaste and shampoo etc. I have been over budget in terms of sticking to £200 for everything for the three of us each month, so rather than continue to be tempted to beat myself up for this (I have enough stress anyway
) I've decided to up my budget to £225 a month, totalling £2700 in 2014. My monthly outgoings have reduced because I no longer have to pay a £15 direct debit and I will shortly be able to stop a further £25 a month direct debit so I feel okay about this increase, I'm also spending less on eating out.
I'm going to continue to shop in Aldi and Sains, making the most of YS, offers, nectar points etc, but my next money saving mission is to better plan shopping trips around when I'm at work so that I reduce on petrol costs. Asda and Tesco are further away for me so I feel like I'd lose out on savings by shopping there.
As much as a £200 a month budget sounds brilliant for our family, I'm cutting myself some slack!0 -
Well done for being realistic MrsCautious! Sometimes, a small adjustment can really help our stress levels, and it looks like you've thought it through anyway with the other direct debuts stopping.
I'm off to town to do my payday banking today. I'll have a mooch too, so will have to repeat my mantra!!
Think bf is doing dinner for me tonight. I'll have to think about my food usage carefully over the next few weeks. Bf has moved to the same town as me now (actually the same road!!), so I'll probably have dinner there sometimes, which will save twice, as I won't be cooking for him or for us on those days. It'll take a while to iron out the specifics there, so budget won't change until that's sorted.
Have a good Saturday everyone!

Hi, spent 1.50 today on two bottles of squash. I underestimated how much squash we were going to need as I have stopped buying coke this month. I calculated that we were spending around 20quid on coca cola especially when hubby is home on the weekend. Told hubby it had to stop. He can have coke in the week out of his food budget as he works away. So have now limited it to three bottles of the 17 p lemonade at Aldi a week. Till payday we won't have a restock so we have been drinking more squash.
So 1.50 spend today, leaves 4.50 in purse. 6 days to go.
Hot & spicy chicken fillets today with left over pasta from yesterday. Will take corn on the cob out and have that with it. Have a good weekend everyone. X'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0 -

I have taken it off the post, but just wanted to point out that I haven't put anything private there!
