    Still under budget by £ 20 but as L*dl was mobbed today I'll have to go in tomorrow morning again to get the missing items. Should not be more than £ 20...Even if I'll go slightly over this month I know why (Food co-op wholesale order and Approved food). I'm pleased as that budget includes my wine and cider, so it was not a bad guess at all for my first Grocery Challenge budget guess! :)

  • OK peeps...May is over for me, and I am finally declaring at

    £587.13

    This included a last couple of spends of £11.63 (YS items in C*op) and £2.49 in a smallgreengrocers on carrots and strawberries.
    Under my £600 target - ok I can hear you allshouting that if you set your target that high it can't be hard to come inunder...but I am going to reduce June's target by £100.00

    Off to join in June's thread
    Grocery Challenge May=£587.13/£600,
    June= £ ??/£500 (total disaster)
    July = £381.42/£500 NSD = 8

    I put off my weekly shop today. I do my shop on a Sunday, but a combination of time, not needing anything and a bad back meant that I didn't go. Bf has offered to help me tomorrow, so I'll take advantage of that. Eggs in ffoods, toothpaste and a few other bits along with fuel at asd@, and the main shop at ald!. They're all really close to me, or in the same direction, so petrol costs not too much of an issue. Needs to come to £17 max for me to be at target. Very doable, given my list.

    Thinking about next month and my budget. Having decided not to include household stuff and toiletries, and given that I still have meat in the freezer, £1pppd should be fine. That makes £90 for June, but will be ok if I go over up to £100. Will aim for £90 though!

    Will report back tomorrow after I've been shopping.

    I was supposed to go shopping today too. I normally go on Sunday to get all the fresh stuff for school and work but as most of us are off next week I didn't think I needed too! I popped in to f foods on the way past to get milk and bananas. We already have yoghurts,ham and some fruit. I have had to rejig the meal plan as I can't do two of the meals but have loads of other options in the freezer. My ultimate aim is to go Thursday morning when I can pick up the voucher from the paper. I will then get two papers to do a shop on Thursday and then one on Sunday and use this to stock up on the big things. So fingers crossed that it can be done!
    Will update my sig in the morning as can't find my receipt at he moment!

    Went shopping Mr T after all as DH wanted a particular bottle of JD as a 'thank-you' present for someone and it was on special offer there - not out of GC budget. Spent £13.79 and hope that's about it for May, though will probably need milk before Sat :)

    We had roast beef (already home cooked from freezer) dinner today with roasties and steamed veggies :D

    Hope you all have a good day tomorrow

    Good morning, did my last shop for may yesterday at M and S using green redeem vouchers, got a shop of £25.03 down to £10.55 so well happy, so going to declare my total for May to be £203, £3 over budget, but it was on the 3 litre shiraz wine from Lidl and some Jeeves (pretend Pimms) as it was on special offer, dont usually spend Grocery budget on alcohol but had some spare, so must have come in under budget to have any left IYSWIM. Off over to June now bye....

  • My plans have gone up in the air now due change of plans on weekend, so hubby needs to pick up some items today. Will be around 15 quid mark. However 10 pound of that is items that I weren't going to pick up till Friday ( June budget) so calling it now at 250.50. With next months grocery budget reduced by a tenner,

    240/250 for June. So next time I post now will be on another board. I know sometimes it's too close for comfort and I have gone over slightly but looking back over the last few years and how much I used to spend. I am proud of myself and how much I am managing to save. Plus we eat well and don't go without. Don't help that hubby works away so have to buy when he is home as I normally go farmfoods & Aldi. With him away for first two weeks of June. I can pull the budget back Furthur as won't have the shops so available to me.

    Taken out two packs of faggots out of freezer, picked them up when they were on offer for 87p each. Had to have two packs as hubby as big appetite. Anyway see you on the June board and well done to everyone you have done so well with your budgets.

    well with 4 days to go till payday, I am £7 over budget :(. Have a limited supply of food in but determined to use up everything we have in, even though we may have so slightly strange meals by the end of it, I am sure we will get through. On the plus though I am doing better than last month and determined to come in UNDER budget next month!

    Been unable to update as the sire wouldn't let me post, so trying via phone. I've updated sig but it's not looking too good,as I didn't account for the girls being off school. I'm also in the middle of moving house,which means I've been doing little shops which I don't find cost effective. I've also lost my bank card this week, so hopefully when that arrives and i'm in other house, I can stock up properly. I have lots of cupboard space for bulk buys and another fridge freezer, so can take advantage of YS goods,particularly bread.
