Got some lovely YS bargains at Sains today, whole chicken for £2.25, 4 salmon fillets for £1.50 and some Mexican bean enchiladas for 84p. Everyone was very polite as we gathered at the shelf, asking very quietly 'excuse me' to grab what we wanted! Missed out on some duck legs cos I couldn't make my mind up!0

Reporting back as promised...
The children were very helpful. DS crossed items off the list, and told me off for putting things in the trolley that weren't on the list!! DD was on calculator duty, adding up as we went around. Both were very helpful, and didn't ask for anything to be put into trolley as treaty things.
I spent £18.44, along with £2.50 yest for a sack of spuds, takes my total up to £80 exactly, leaving approx £13 for my £1pppd target, or approx £20 to keep my total under £100. Pretty good considering I spent a whopping £180 last month!!

Been away for the weekend. Had a lovely time even if we spent a lot of money! We tried to be good but things just cost. We took a picnic the first day so just bought some icecreams and then bought some sandwiches from the local co-op the second day. I had taken crisps, drinks and fruit from home. Plus two of the sandwiches were YS!! Came to about £4 which is a lot cheaper than if we had bought lunch out! I am going to include the sandwiches in gc but not the ice-creams and not dinner. Had no choice but to eat at the hotel!
We'd also popped in to see some friends and they invited us for dinner tonight! Result!Grocery challenge-

Totted up my spends for last week and my monthly spend now stands at £215.67 :T This is my first grocery challenge and am gobsmacked at what a difference it's made to my spending!
My month starts again on wednesday so could could easily finish under budget as only need to get a couple of bits for lunches between now and then, and everything else can wait
Quick question though - would you keep avoiding spends and celebrate (for free) at coming in under budget? Or spend what's left in the pot to restock reserves and give a heads start for next month? :huh:0 -
Ellie BB - to be honest I'd probably do a bit of both! Well done on coming under budget.
When that happened here I then reduced my spend but upped it for Xmas and have now upped as we're slimming - however feeling much better in ourselves for it and eating far more f and veg - nearly up to 7 a day!! Perhaps we will be able to reduce the budget again - just a little when we've had our first full month as fridge is now always totally stuffed with good things!! You will see from sig that one month I carried the surplus over to next and then used it for stock items. Some people do the second purse challenge too.
Keep up the good work everyone.July 16 £95/£200
Nov 16 £0/£200

More spends to report £20.82 and mostly fruit & veg, brought apples, satsumas, nectarines, peaches, cauliflower, tomatoes, bananas, radishes, rhubarb, pears, grapes. some juice and a paper.
Yesterday we had roast beef and all the trimmings and as usual mum took one home with her. Also made a rhubarb and blueberry crumble. There is enough beef left over for at least two meals possibly three. Its in the fridge at moment but will be going in the freezer shortly. Have been slowly using a few items up from freezer and its oh so slowly going down.
Tonight we are having lasagne and salad.
Hope everyone is well and keeping to their own personal budgets.MARCH £62.38/2500
