I had an Indesit washer drier for over 10 years and only had to call the engineer out once, I replaced it with just a washer in 2004 when the motor burnt out, never had any problems with that one and sold it on eaby earlier this year, buyer emailed me a couple of weeks ago saying it was the best washer she ever had!!!!!!!!
    Just good luck?????????????????
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Hi all. They are coming out on Monday, so we will know more then.

It's making that banging noise again. It's always the dryer that's the problem. Anywho, fingers crossed for Monday, as I'm not in the mood to be arguing with these people.

Just an update to say that the engineer couldn't find anything wrong with it. So I guess I'll have wait till it goes again.

I found the receipt and we purchased from 123 electricals for me, so will be pursuing them for a replacement if hotpoint become difficult.

    Thanks all.

I purchased it from 123 electricials for me, I couldn't remember the actual name of the company till I found the receipt.

I liaised with hotpoint directly as I had to arrange delivery with them for a particular colour.

I just said 'purchased from hotpoint' as a figure of speech, meaning, hot points product.

If you go over to consumeractiongroup and look up my name of robbond55 on the threads posted look for my details of a tumble dryer problem I had.
2 years old Creda condenser dryer which was £200 (same as Hotpoint - part of Indesit group) and heat went. Called the customer services to give them a chance to repair the item, told no , out of guarantee etc...
Then booked a repair, sent the invoice (£82 repair bill) recorded delivery with a firm letter outlining the retailers responsibilities under the Sale of Goods act and within 3 weeks a cheque for the full amount appeared.
    And this was with Currys!
So stick to your guns and go for it!

    Thanks for posts again.

The dryer has broken down AGAIN!! They're coming out Thursday. Funny thing is, the lady said "No problem, you are still under warranty" !? I asked why they can't just replace it and be done with. She said it will be down to the engineer and that I must discuss this with him on Thursday.

Beyond a joke now. We're a family of 5 and need our washer/dryer working for goodness sake!!

I'd write to the retalier (123 Electricals??) telling them you've given them every reasonable opportunity to repair the item but you are now rejecting it, and would now like a like-for-like replacement or a refund. Threaten a claim in the county court under the Sale of Goods Act in 14 days if they don't comply.

No point wasting your time and energy on Hotpoint as they have no legal obligations under the Sale of Goods Act (and they know it).
