I'm with Anglian water, and for years went with the RV because we had 2 fish ponds and a fish tank so i used a lot of water topping them up,water changes, cleaning etc.I always thought metered would cost more.

But i was persuaded to give it a try.I am so glad i did,my bill came down by at least a third, and by what you have just quoted for band A (mine is a B) it would be a lot more now.I was paying about £450 5 years ago,now i l pay about £300.

Candy53 - The cost in Skegness was £535.61 for a three bedroom terraced house with Anglian Water for the year 2013/14 based on rateable value of a house in council tax band A, (ie not metered).

Rateable Value(RV) is NOTHING to do with Council Tax banding.

RV was based on the notional rent a property could command and for most older properties in England and Wales was assessed as long ago as 1973 - the date of the last general RV revaluation.

Thus it is perfectly possible for a Council Tax Band D or E(or even higher) property to have a lower RV than a Band A property.

    OK, I'll bite.

I'm with Thames Water on RV, I got my 2014/15 bill yesterday. It's gone up from £540 last year to £560 this year, just £2 per month increase.

IMO £56 per month for unlimited water for a family of 5 with 3 teenage children, a car to wash, a garden, a deep spa bath, power shower, washing machine used every day etc., is very reasonable.

    Thanks for your input.

My goodness, and I thought ours was high!

Well, got our new bill this morning, and it has gone up to what I put in my post.

    Thames Water un-metered:

    2013 £754
    2012 £708
    2011 £658
    2010 £622
    2009 £605
    2008 £580

For a five bedroom in London.

Hence switched to a meter last year.

Looking forward to seeing the next bill.

one of the bosses from Anglian was talking about the charges for 2013/14, and he said the rises for that year, would take the bill up to an average of £380!? And ours came in at £490+.
His figures were not quite what they forecast to OFWAT which reports (XLS spreadsheet available at https://www.ofwat.gov.uk/consumerissues/chargesbills/latestchanges/ average metered and unmetered bills) that the average measured bill in the area served by Anglian was expected to be £397 and the average unmeasured bill would be £542, and £434 overall. Looks like you got off lightly for an unmeasured customer!! The spreadsheet is probably interesting to you if you want to see a comparison with other companies.

I think it must be the way Anglian Water word it.

    Our current bill:

    Water - RV 115 x 20.03p = £23.03.
    Standing charge - £226.27.
    Total: £249.30.

    Sewerage - (foul only) - RV 115 x 20.28p = £23.32.
    Standing charge - £218.15.
    Total: £241.47.

    New prices:

    Water - RV 115 x 16.82p = £19.34.
    Standing charge - £237.50.
    Total: £256.84.

    Sewerage: RV 115 x 17.17p = £19.76.
    Standing charge - £233.08.
    Total: £252.84.

I know the charges vary but for some reason they didn't show the areas, and as I said, there is no box to put your postcode in.

I think we could be paying more than £509.68 because I was told our first payment is £51.02, and the first one is only more usually by a few pence. This means we could be paying £ 510 a year. I know, yeah, we don't have a meter, my point is that for the bill to go up by £ 19 to £20 a year, is very high.

I just wondered if this is happening across the board this year, with Anglian, and other water companies.

I have just looked at our bills from the last 18 years and it's shocking:eek::eek: I am really angry that they seem to increase at such a pace:mad:
On 11 Feb 2014 the BBC reported Anglian Water bills to rise by 1.6% but ours has gone up 3.5%.

    2 bed terraced, built 1980's, 2 adults, Total bill 2014/2015 £550:eek:

    Water supply standing charge £237
    Waste water/Sewerage standing charge £271
    Rateable value 123 x 16.82p and 17.17p

The rateable value based costs are lower year by year, but the standing charges are going up and up. In the last 10 years the bill has more than doubled with the biggest increase being in 2012/2013 and 2013/2014.

Same here, the rateable value amounts have gone down but it's the standing charges that have hit the roof! I'm just grateful that we have a soakaway.
