Which would be the HMRC changes.
You would have been charged under the old system,so are you now saying people should watch out for charges from 7 years ago?

The card only mentions Royal Mail (not HMRC) and the only people we spoke to were the staff at our local sorting office who said this was a 'recent change'

It does state that is a 'Customs' charge but doesn't mention HMRC anywhere on the card.

This was new to me and so I thought I would bring this up on the forum to be helpful.

So it was new to you.
    We get that.

however a quick search will bring many many threads on the same subject over many years. Were they helpful to you?
Do you understand who customs are? If so,what would you derive from a customs charge?
You got the item which has a nice big label breaking down the charges. The information is out there,so no doubt there will be other threads just like this one after the fact.

I am a bit perplexed by a different admin charge being levied to me. I regularly order the same item (cotton fabric) - same value, same brand, same amount, same postage from the USA. Normally the admin charge is £8, this time it was £13.50.

Was it sent express and delivered by Parcelforce? If so, they'll charge £13.50 handling fee.

Ignoring the sarcasm, if you insist on everyone being 100% accurate all the time, then I have NOT "got the item which has a nice big label breaking down the charges" , I have the 'Royal Mail card' [see earlier post]...stating that the item could not be delivered due to the outstanding payment due.

When I have collected the item I will be interested to read a breakdown of the charges.

...and collection at a Royal Mail depot has to be paid in cash. They cannot process card payments.

Yours too? I thought it was just my nearest depot that did this, I didn't realise that it was RM policy. (The sign advising this looks very Heath Robinson).

The printed card we received had this highlighted in red but the counter staff said that most people still don't read this and expect card payment!
