Also, there's the comfort factor - when I was looking, I found a gorgeous dress in a local shop, but on trying it on, realised it'd drive me demented in a very short time as it had a rubbery "grippy" bit across the bust. I therefore rejected that one.
Fwiw, when I married Mr LW, I was 43. I'm also 5'2", and rather more rotund than is ideal. I didn't go anywhere near a bridal store, I eventually bought a lilac silk dress from a department store in Northampton; it's full length, has little beads and sequins on as decoration, and came with a matching stole. I've since worn it to the opera a few times.:o
Don't worry, you'll find something, and will look radiant. Ignore snobby wedding dress lady.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Morning All
Lovely dress Islandmaid. If you are struggling for one for your proportions, have you tried the new made to measure ones on ebay?
They certainly are not expensive, and there are loads of styles. Made in China, but what isn't these days!!
Been to the hairdressers to lose my twinklies this morning, then called at a bar for a small all day breakfast with DH. We are off out this evening to celebrate a neighbours birthday. Back to the carnivore restaurant, so Skye will win out.
Now doing some community work.
((hugs)), spoons, etc., all round. Take care everyone, DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -

Not been posting much but have been reading.
So sorry some of you have been having a bad time ((hugs x))
I have the week off work, don,t know why I bother to take school hol,s off now as I usually end up 'abandoned' with the kids (teens) doing their own thing.
It does give me a chance to sort the house out, de-juked our bedroom yesterday, got rid of 2 bags of clothes to charity.
Today is kitchen, sorting the cupboards out.
As I mentioned a while ago, I am now engaged, we,ve set the date for end of August, tiny wedding about 25 guests, I am really happy about this, but am getting worried about what to wear, being short (5'2) and a size 16, and 46 nothing seems to suit diidn,t help my confidence when snobby wedding dress lady sucked her teeth like a dodgy plumber and stated ' your an awkward shape'....

Dropped back to say DD's evil landlord has now signed, and she has also. SiL will sign tomorrow and collect keys (estate agents will not stay open) - after which we will all heave a sigh of relief and stop feeling sick.
Oooh, wedding dresses: very pretty and definitely a wedding dress: Lovely.
Back to ironing!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Car back from the garage and it cost £200  the brakes had seized and they have advised us to get a new column switch and two front tyres before she goes in for her MOT on 7th March, they tightened the drive belts up because they said they were still ok and it would be a waste of money changing them just yet and they didn't charge for that so we can't complain.
Had a doctors appointment at 9.30am and he wanted me to have a blood test, so when I booked it in the receptionist said we can fit you in today at 11.00am, so I said ok I will go and get what I need in Asda and comeback. When I came out of the surgery the heavens opened and I was drenched and frozen by the time I got home
Then I realised that I hadn't asked whether I am to stay on the new drug he put me on, so I have asked for him to call me this afternoon :wall:
I got home and my eye appointment has arrived for the 2nd of May  if they had just done as the optician had asked four weeks ago instead of calling me in to see the bloody GP first I would have had an appointment in March
NPM I hope that you are feeling better in yourself, keep on fighting hun the PTB in all government departments local or national are all the same they lie through their teeth to deny you any help
Sending lots of positive vibes your way xx
Off to light the fire I haven't been able to warm up since I got home brrrrrrrrrr
BFN xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
