Very noisy neighbours

Hi, I wondered if anyone can offer me some advice?
For the past two years on and off I've been having to endure the hideous sounds of my neighbours so called music.
It's not just a little bit loud either, it's so loud that I have to turn the volume up on my tv if I want to hear it, and my living room is the opposite side of the house to theirs
Things I've tried already include:
Going around and asking them to turn it down ( they do this, then put it on later at the same level as before).
Putting my stereo against the adjoining wall and ramping the volume up ( it has no effect).
Calling environmental health ( every time I call, coincidentally the music gets turned down for a month or so, then it starts again, if I didn't know any better I'd swear they know somebody in the department).
All the while that the 'music' is pounding they leave their dogs in the garden to just bark continuously at their leisure, I'm assuming that they don't even hear them, however on the odd occasions they open their window and kindly shout out at the dogs to shut up, amazingly the dogs seem to ignore their request so continue.
So, this week I've already been around twice, and the music has begun at 8.30am over this weekend, any ideas about what I can do its driving me mad!!!

Keep calling enviroment health and keep a diary.....It will make a difference in the long run. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

Do you own your own house? And do your neighbours own theirs?0

Get a noise meter and start making records for environmental health.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I forgot to say contact your local bobby and he/she could have a quiet word with them. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

Thanks, I've kept a diary but like I said, each time I call, miraculously it stops, so it appears I'm complaining about nothing.
I own ( which is why I don't want to have to take it further if I don't have to) they don't.

This is quite a good website:

Unfortunately this kind of problem can quickly escalate and can take ages to resolve. You have to be very determined to get anything done.0 -
Hmm, I would contact the police, but if I'm honest they're on first name terms with all of them as their son is always in trouble of one kind or another..

If they are renting you can always hope they might move out at the end of their tenancy. Is it worth having a word with the landlord or letting agency? There is usually a clause in the contract about noise nuisance and they could be in breach of their tenancy agreement. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks so much for the replies and the link I'll have a look and see if I can get any more ideas.
Sadly she's a council tenant, she did talk about moving a while ago but it appears she's decided to stay.
The thing is, she doesn't appear unreasonable, but also doesn't seem to care that this is really inflicting on mine and my families
