How much do you spend on food per month?

About £50/week for two adults ,one toddler a big Lab and two hens.
Almost everything comes from Lidl and the local butcher for bangers.
We make our own hand soap and use soap nuts instead of laundry detergent - a kg of nuts is £6 on ebay and can last two years when we do laundry about every other day.
Dry paulses we get from our local Tesco as these are on par with Asian cash and carry pricewise and smaller bags that fit in our cupboard.
Chicken food is £8 for 20kg at the farm feed centre and last four month, there we get dog food as well at £9/15kg .
I find Lidl to have almost everything apart from dry pulses.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

I spend £300 per month mostly in aldi. I have four kids 16,13,7,2. I cook most things but maybe have the odd frozen pizza in the fridge for emergencies. My family all have their five a day and meat/fish four nights a week. I use every left over and make lots of pies, stews and soups. They love soup and hot home made bread for tea. This spend includes toiletries loo roll etc. Some months it feels like a bit of a struggle but generally I will find some pasta, a tin of sweet corn an onion, tomato based sauce and left over cheese as a last resort. Lucky I had a mum who taught me to make something out of nothing.0

I have a £60.00 per month food budget and anything left over goes in a tin towards the summer holiday ice creams. In January I had 57p left, February 49p.
So I stick pretty well to my budget.I don't have to buy a joint as I eat at my DDs every Sunday.I am not a great meat eater and make everything I can from scratch.I use a lot of fruit and veg (usually in season and in Aldi's:)) and HM soup is my usual lunch, porridge or cereal for breakfast. My freezer is at the moment crammed full of stuff, so I can go for around 10 days before I need to buy much I don't eat bread anymore, so have no need for butter I eat crackers with low fat cheese as a topping with sliced cucumber or tomato on top.I am doing my best to lose weight, and since last September and have lost over two and a half stone as I have an operation due next month. But I do eat well and healthily and utilise as many of the YS stuff that I can see.About a third of my money goes on fruit and veg.As I only have myself to feed I think I do quite well, and don't waste any food that I buy I hate wasting resouces and anything I buy gets eaten:):) I make sure that I only buy what's needed on my shopping list, and only use cash to shop with.I am not keen on shopping anyway and would rather do something nicer, especially in the sunny weather than walk aimlessly around a supermarket I cook all of my own cakes and biscuits for my grandchildren. Its the 11th March and I have £37.59 left in my seperate food purse for food this month and have no need to shop at all this week:):)I am very organised when it comes to shopping and think that running a budget for food is no different than running a business.you wouldn't want to waste money there either.
