  • I now shop in waitrose and spend £70 a week on my son and I.

We spend about 20.00-30 on fruit and veg, then i buy the same items pretty much weekly, 2 packs of pork and apple sausages in the 2 4 £5 offer, chicken, ham, cheese, bread, gammon, yogurt, milk , fruit juice, ect :)

However I then do spend little extras if i pop into my small local sainsburys or tesco and end up buying coke, chocolate ect!

    February GC 173/200
    March GC £193.60/190
    April 221/£250
  • Thanks for all the replies so far. To clarify, the £180 is strictly food & drink - cleaning, toiletries etc are separate.

What does your shopping consist of. My budget is £15ish per week
  • At the moment I spend about a tenner a week but that's not through choice.

If you can afford to spend £180 a month and enjoy eating what you buy, carry on.
  • Why spend it though if you don't have to

I vowed this year to massively reduce my food waste and I have, also itssaving a bit of cash each week and allowing me to donate a couple of items a week to the local food bank
  • I have just averaged my supermarket bills for the past 7 months and it turns out that I spend about £64 a week/256 month for two adults including all toiletries/cleaning stuff and some dog food. I think we eat well as always have proper home cooked meals and work lunches. I don't buy a lot of meat though.

Food only: £45-50 pm, I have one meal a day plus snacks. But I do have a very well stocked storecupboard and make the most of the freezer.

My monthly coffee bill comes to about the same, over and above my grocery shop. I feel ashamed now I've actually totted it up :o

  • We are 2 adults, 2 kids aged 14 & 12, one of whom is Coeliac, a dog & we spend £500 ish per month. I've tried the grocery challenge many times & am rubbish at it. I've come to accept that it is what is is! Although saving for a wedding, it really would be useful if we could reduce it. I buy our meat either from Aldi or Lidl or from the Co Op reduced section. The freezer & store cupboards are well stocked & we probably could live off them for a while but then they would need replacing. We don't eat ready meals really (well the kids do have pizza or fish fingers sometimes) but unfortunately we all like our snacks!

I spend £300pm for 3 adults + DD's 6ft4 BF who eats here 2 or 3 times a week. This includes cleaning supplies and toiletries. This is for 3 meals a day, except 3 days a week during term time DD buys lunch at college and money for these is not included.
I cook fresh food from scratch. Mainly 'meat & 3 veg' type dinners as my family prefers plain home-cooked food.

  • I just started keeping track of my monthly spend. We eat very well, always homecooked. I love a bargain and the yellow stickers at the end of the day. Last month was £82 this month so far £46. We are two adults and a toddler.
