Parking at Peel Centre. Ignored letters for 12 months

Hi,

I have read many other threads on this topic, but I couldn't find anyone else in my situation.

I received 2 private parking tickets from Excel around February 2013. After reading lots of advice on the internet, I ignored and discarded the chain of letters I received. I made no contact with Excel, and the letters stopped several months ago.

Today I was surprised to have received a claim form from Northampton County Court for the sum of £355 in parking charges. Having read more recent advice on MSE forums, I now realise I shouldn't have ignored the letters.:(

The thought of paying this money to such an awful company is upsetting.

I wondered if anyone else has been in this position and received a claim form out of the blue?

its happening a lot with PE and now excel, so yes is the answer

as for excel and the peel centre, it was in the news and watchdog etc a couple of years ago when they took martin cutts to court (and lost)

just to let you know, back in feb 2013 the scum known as excel parking operated (scammed) at the peel centre under the old signage,meaning it was very unclear that the peel was in fact p&d car park,,they changed the signs around july 2014,they are now 100% clear,,,you can if need be use this in your favour that the signs at the time were totally inadequate,,good luck and spank em.

Hilarious to read the whole decision by the Judge! Notice the lady didn't have to say a word!

In your case your 'tickets' at the Peel Centre were before the signs changed. Does anyone have old pics from this time last year - maybe bondy lad does?

hi,,i am not sure if i have the old photos,,i will check this,ds did take some photos,but i think they were of the new signage,,believe me if i do somehow i will get them posted.

wow,just found a piccie on this very forum,now you guys are aware ime not technical,so hope i dont confuse you,,,,you need to enter into search box,,requesting photos of peel centre car park (stockport),,,it will produce a thread by,,,einstein agogo,,,,from 10/1/14,,,,,on post 7 by coupon -mad,,,their is a link to martins cutts blog,,,,click on it and scroll down,to the old sign of excells at the peel,,,,you wont be able to read this,,,,but at the top of sign under the large letter ,,p,,in a square box,,there is a horizontal blue line,,,,this is where the words were,,,,,,,this is a pay and display car park,,,100% joke and 100% unreadable,,,hope this helps,,,this is the same sign that i/my son will have in his mob if we can find it.

thanks redx,,,just noticed on the link by c-m,,,that under number 10 on martins cutts link,,,is a second photo (the old one) at the peel centre,wherby you can see clearly (but not when driving in) the words along the blue line,,,this is a pay & display car park,,it looks like its been squeezed in a tin of sardines it really is so small and not possible to read this on entering peel,hence the judge agreeing when she actually walked from court to the centre to see for herself,,now op,,go spank em.
