Oh dear ....I'm back ...in more ways than one ...back to square one basically.

Still today is a new day ......got 35.5 pounds to lose only been trying to lose it for 2 years now. Low carb should be great for me as I love all meat...trying to avoid dairy as I think I have a problem with it...but don't like eggs or veg or salad

Setting myself half stone targets ...will just be nice to see the first number on the scales change .....wish me luck ...again

Don't want to sound negative but How are you going to get vitamins as on low carb you can't eat fruit and if you don't eat veg or salad surely that's quite dangerous? Eggs, veg and salad is where a low carber will get most of their goodness? I hope it works out for you anyway.

DEBTMONKEY - yes please post some recipes - especially anything spicy as I can't seem to get enough of spicy food - am craving lots of high flavoured food!

Hi! This is my first post and I think I'm going to like this forum :)

I've been on a low carb diet too and I've recently learned to eat spelt brad, pasta and rice instead of the normal ones.

The result has been pretty good and spelt is really yummy too

    Hi Judith,

I've never tried spelt. Isn't is still quite high in carbs?

Was just trying to look at the fab recipes at the start of the thread and lots aren't linking? Mercy are you still around? If not has anyone clever saved their locations? Oh how I wish I had cut and paste some of the ones I fancied cooking into a folder now!

It's not terribly low-carb but it's really taste and perfect if you are on a diet.
Furthermore spelt contains more protein, fats and crude fibre than wheat and also has large amounts of Vitamin B17 (anti-carcinoma). It also contains special carbohydrates which play a decisive role in blood clotting and stimulate the body’s immune system so as to increase its resistance to infection.

After my wedding I am re-introducing carbs into my diet but trying to keep them healthy so I will look up spelt. It's too many carbs for me on this diet though.

Gunsnbanjos has posted a new link to the recipes in post 3 of this thread (on the first page). They all work from the links there (I've checked)

Hi Sheila, Mercy and everyone, just quickly popping in. Don't know what I've been doing but just haven't found the time to post regularly.

I'm still sticking to a low carb diet, did quite well on my holiday to Israel last year (their diet is so healthy, mainly meat & salad) and avoided most of the temptations over Christmas. I still do Callanetics for exercise and in January OH and I started ballroom dancing. I only have 1lb to lose before I reach my 2st mark. Needless to say I have been stuck at same weight for last two weeks.

B: Sardines on toast (adapted lc fruit & nut bread from recipe list)with green salad.
L: Low carb garlic bread (again adapted from fruit & nut bread recipe) with lactofree butter and lactofree cheese.
D: Roast chicken, mashed swede, tbsp carrots, 4 sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, & Bisto best gravy

Drinks: Sparkling water. Redbush tea with watered down lactofree cream (don't like creamy tea)

I got used to eating salad for breakfast whilst in Israel and just continued when I got home.

I still feel much better on low carb. I have ME so struggle with having enough energy most days. Whilst low carbing I find I no longer get the low blood sugar dips that I used to.

I have started eating much less on one day a week and find that helps with the weight loss. For example tomorrow I will be having:

    B: 2 tbs Flax, raspberries & cream
    L: Pkt salted almonds
    D: Chicken & leek soup.

I treat myself to 4 small squares of dairy free dark chocolate at the weekend.
    Weight loss 0/2st
    Inch loss = 0"

    Slow & Steady 3

Have you seen this thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4896529

The 5/2 diet (or 1/6 if that suits you better) can be combined with staying low carb.
