BT Vision - Slow Box?

Then just turn the box off, wait ten seconds then turn it back on. It will/should cure the problem.
Forever? My partner has severe mobility problems and is in too much pain to be able to leap up and down because the box fails to perform properly..Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I turn my box off once a week. This cures certain problems the boxes are having at the moment. Like the one your having now. Failing that, it would be a case of contacting BT. But not on the phone, via email using this link -

We were OK for months but it all went pearshaped about the end of February and it's been like wading through treacle ever since. Tried chopping out most of the unwatched recordings but this merely reduced the deletion times.0

The link above worked wonders. Visionman rules OK. Many thanks (and to BT.)0

We had this issue and we also had a problem with the internet cutting out at precisely the same time each week. We eventually got BT to send an engineer and he sorted out an issue on the line which had the added effect of curing the speed issues and the problem with the vision box.0

Further to my above post it has now gone all to bits again:
Long delays on responding to commands
Recorded programmes are severely truncated
Watched programmes frequently interrupted by BTVision deciding to reboot
Programmes recorded on catchup are also truncated eg the Derby merely consisted of the post race interviews.
The whole system is completely unuseable and I would appreciate any advice on alternative systems as BT at present do not comply with the sale of goods act at all0 -
Hi tellywatcher,
Have you tried pulling the power cord/switching the box off once a week? That works for me.0 -
I have had BT Vision almost since it first appeared as an option. Until a few months ago I was very happy with it but now am tearing my hair out and am just waiting for my current contract to end never to renew it again!! It records programmes I've never set, doesn't record ones I have set, if I press pause or unpause it doesn't respond for at least 30 seconds. In fact it is slow to respond to anything. I have to reboot several times a week and then it will respond quicker for the next couple of hours after rebooting. I have contacted BT several times and every time they tell me to turn it off, unplug and reset it all. This "cures" it for a couple of days and then we're off again into the usual pattern of non or slow responding. I have just given up now!! To top it all I now also have problems with my BT emails. I have to say though that my internet speed is good. By the end of the year it will be bye bye BT I'm afraid. Meantime if anyone has any ideas to solve the BT Vision problems I would be grateful as I still have another 5 months to go with my contract. I guess I was silly to renew but they offered me BT infinity for free if I renewed for another year.0

If you don't need the online content, like movies and sports, I really recommend a Media Center PC. The EPG is rock solid, ad never misses a show. You can catch up using BBC iPlayer if you didn't record something.
A lot of these computer based set top boxes seem to be rushed out with contract programmers who just did the minimum to get it working. User interface, crashes etc. are left to the next contractor to sort out.
I look forward to trying Virgin Tivo next. I think Virgin realised it takes a lot to get it right, and was wise to buy in Tivo technology instead.0 -
Hi notusuallygrumpy. How much disk space do you have left?0
