So how do we go about recording it...?? Do we just play into a mic or something? If so I haven't got a mic?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I think you'd need a mic for capturing vocals...you can DI (Direct Inject) an electric guitar (for example) relatively straight forward...using the line in of your soundcard...whilst not the best sound quality you can still record it...
as for acoustic instruments unless they have built in acoustic pickups you're back to mic'ing up!
All good fun!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 201

If you get one of these: http://www.imuso.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?StockCode=AC00040
you can plug your bass guitar into the line input on your computer. But without a mic you won't be able to add vocals..0 -
I can do pitch correction on the vocals,
Not on mine. You'd need a road roller for that."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Have a play around with how good your inbuilt mic in the PC is, otherwise if you get the right adapter you should be able to plug it straight into the PC (though you won't be able to hear yourself play)
If we can get the basic drums & keyboard as a backing track, then you can tune & tempo to that (though will probably need a separate 'tuning' track for everyone before hand...)Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Take a hammer. Wave it around. Accidently catch yourself in the groin with it.
For a few minutes you'll sound like Mariah Carey..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I do have a decent mic that I can borrow from work too - so either all round to mine or it could go on a little journey around the country (just don't tell my boss!)Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06
