So true. Even when I was married we resisted Valentines day as much as possible. Use to despair of the pressure to conform to purchasing gifts and celebrating the occasion like clockwork. Following the crowd and being romantic to your partner on a specified date, has always seemed about as far removed from romantic as you can get to me. The commercialisation of it all feels totally crass. The benefits of Valentines day are only realised in the tills of the florist, gift stores and restaurants. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
My partner went to work whilst I'm stuck in bed (bed rest). When i got up to grab lunch from fridge I found a massive card and a bag full of fun silly bits / toys ( not sex toys btw) including a big chocolate rose, the best sort in my opinion :-)
We are watching a movie tonight prob with dominoes pizza ( got my MSE code tyvm) so should be a nice lazy night to match my lazy day.
We don't usually do the valentines thing and like to do something special after but I think he's done this as we've been through a lot recently and he wanted to cheer me up. I'm so lucky to have him! :-)0 -
I made pukkadad a card.
On the front it said,
'I love love love you more than chips'
Inside
'And I really love chips!'
This relates to the fact that when we met I ate and cooked nothing but oven chips!
I was very surprised to get ferrero rocher and roses!
Very unexpected as normally we don't really bother, they made me cry!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

OH gave me a card and £20 which I used to buy my own flowers
I've had plenty of likes to the photo I posted on Facebook- they were £5 from Asda
it's OH's birthday on Monday so we'll probably celebrate over the weekend. Haven't seen any engagement announcements thank god- my mental health is fragile enough at the minute
I gave him a card and £15 Argos voucher which he was over the moon with- he's saving for a lawn mower

large dominos 4 cans a lager and as a treat my right hand
My OH was very pleased to inform me that my card had cost him only 49p! He also treated me to an M&S dine in, with extra chocolates, and an orchid plant. He bought me some flowers when I was a bit down last weekend and they're still going strong. He's a good man.0
