All this talk of getting to target and still not being happy, well hate to say it - 9 years down the line I still think I'm bigger than I am and STILL do double take in full length mirrors. Often walk past mirrors in shops more than once just to check
. I also worry more about what I look like now than I ever did while overweight. I too aren't happy with my tummy, especially with all my issues. Most days I think I look 6 months pregnant although some people still ask when I'm stopping losing weight. I'm not happy with my scrawny looking face, getting a bit jowly in my 'eyes' although hubby says I'm not. I compere myself with a work colleague who's a couple of months younger than me but looks so much younger compered to me. Didn't help when another colleague said 'you're my age aren't you?' She's 54 and I'm 48
.
On the shrinking feet - in the last year my feet have shrunk again. At biggest I was size 6, at target 5.5. Last year was size 5 but now probably 4.5 would fit. Guttered my crocs are so massive I can't wear them.
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

I was on plan yesterday, need to pop to the supermarket in a bit as have run out of some 'staples' in my SW diet!
Does anyone here have Instagram? I follow quite a few people on there who are also on SW, they post pics of their meals and losses and its like a big huge support/ideas group. Love seeing what other people eat and seeing their losses. If anyone wanted, I could follow you as well if you are on there! Love itSlimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -

I'm sorry but no, I'm not asking for sw consultants to counsel members or hold therapy sessions. As to be quite honest the fact that so many of them are no longer at target makes me question the whole 'change for life' approach that sw is meant to be.
Sorry consultant you were a sw consultant yet your back on the plan to lose weight so surely there was some issue that led to you putting weight back on.
I personally am fed up being the show pony at my group and have enjoyed not staying for image as I can't handle the soooo Mildredd how amazing do you feel now you've lost ALL that weight?
Erm still the same person I was when I wobbled in? My personality hasn't changed. I now have more body hang ups and I'm striving for a perfect body that I probably won't ever achieve but other than that yeah it's alright I'm just less fat than I was.
I personally think sw needs to say losing weight won't solve all your problems and tbh if you have slight body hang ups accept your probably going to have more. Oh and your head won't realise your actually a smaller size for quite some time and you'll always consider yourself the fat one.
Sw doesn't accept will happen apart from find the new you?!
Sorry but changing the chassis on a car doesn't change the engine!!
And I haven't changed as a person I'm still the same person the new me? That implies there was something wrong with me as a person nope just my weight I joined to change my weight not get a new personality.Started sw 02/09/13 - total loss so far -5st 1lb

Interesting topic. I'm hoping that I'll feel happier in myself when I've lost a bit of weight. I already feel a bit better, a smidge more confident. It's not going to 'cure' my emotional eating though, I know that.
Had 2 glasses of red wine & a packet of McCoys crisps last night. Not sure of syns but I suppose I've been unofficially 'banking' syns all week so hopefully ok.
EE again today:
B - branflakes (HEB), raspberries/blueberries/mango, greek yoghurt (3.5 syns)
L - loaded potato skins, salad. Fresh pineapple
D - jalfrezi chicken curry (syns) with extra mushroom & onion added, rice, green beans, pitta (syns).
Grapes & cherries
Not sure of the curry syns, but will only have a small portion. I'm guessing the pitta will be somewhere between 6 - 8 syns. Will probably have another 2 glasses of red wine tonight so yet more syns.
I seem to be having a synful weekend :rotfl:'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
All the weight loss classes/programmes are just tools to help you become healthy and become slimmer.. if you have other issues then they need to be dealt with in a different way. You can't lose weight and expect to love yourself if you never loved yourself in the first place can you?
As women, don't we all have bits of our body that we don't like whether we're fat, thin, ugly, beautiful etc etc... the only way to change your perspective is to make yourself change it and for people who have always thought negatively of themselves it will take time, but you need to make yourself consciously think positive.
not really sure where i'm going with this rambleBut try focussing on the achievements that you've done rather than focussing on the negative - you've all become healthier, you'll live a bit longer, your children will have good role models, you're a size 12 for the first time on your lives etc etc..

Well done Annie.
I was thinking about this weight loss/self image issue we've been talking about. This isn't quite the same but there are similarities -
I was out with my friend for lunch. I looked across at another table and there were a group of ladies there too. I thought along the lines of, "There are some old ladies out enjoying themselves. That's nice" Then I realised that they'd probably be thinking the same about me and my friend!
On another occasion, I met someone I hadn't seen fors everal years and I thought how much she'd aged in comparison to my other friends. When I thought about it it was the DIFFERENCE since the last time I'd seen her that allowed the ageing. The friends I see more often, the difference is not noticeable as it happens so gradually, so it's as if they haven't changed. Is that why our minds don't see the change in our bodies that others notice, even although there is physical evidence?
I'm 63 but I think of myself as much, much younger than that. I still can't believe I'm that old (see first story)! My husband is 69 and still behaves like the young dafty I met and fell in love with 45 years ago. Despite serious health issues for each of us, we're still in our 20s, lol; still get a shock when we realise there are some things we can't do so easily.
When I look in the mirror, I see a stranger. But my OH sees me, as does everyone else - he's become accustomed to the gradual changes. I never have, and I'm just realising it's only me who can do something about chasing away the stranger. That's why I'm doing SW, albeit at a slow pace.
Good luck to everyone, however you deal with your issues.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400
