Travel agent not issuing tickets

Options
I have booked a tickets for our family though a travel agent 2 weeks ago. I was informed at the time of booking that I will receive the tickets with in two days. It has not happened so far. Whenever I contact them asking for my tickets they say I will get tickets after two or three days.

I have contacted airline to check if I have reservation but they are unable to find me on their system. I have confronted the travel agent and they said they deal with a different department in the airline and I do have a reservation but it will not show up on the airline system until the ticket is issued. I was not provided any booking reference numbers and when I called the airline they searched with my name on their system.

What can I do? The agent keep on saying that its airline who is taking time and as I am not traveling for next few months I don’t have to worry I will eventually get the tickets.

Does anyone had similar experience? Any advice will be really helpful

    What travel agent is it?

    Del
    I am a Travel Agent

My company’s ABTA numbers are P6046. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.

Can you please let me not name the travel agent as yet?

I am in dispute and distress as my money is already taken away with no tickets.

Also I was initially booking on the website and while I was in final step of booking I received a call from travel agent saying that this fare is not available and if I go ahead with the booking it will not issue the ticket.

Agent offered the same flights for about £300 more and I then booked over the phone. They are still advertising the tickets on the older rate 2 weeks on

Did you pay with a credit or debit card?

    Good.

If you have paid in full, ask the TA to liaise with the airline to ticket your itinerary and issue you with the airlines six digit booking reference.

If they don't, ask for a refund or claim under s75 from your credit card company http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases

Thank you very much for this

What I want to understand is how much should I wait? I don’t want to exercise section 75 needlessly if I would eventually get the ticket.

Issue is I am unable to verify whether travel agent is telling me the truth. Is it possible that they can block reservation without actually booking them under my name? Or do they have allotted seats that only they can sell so they don’t have to actually put in a reservation?

The airline is a 5-star airline and the agent is fairly known for travel to South Asia they appear on quite few comparison sites as well and member of IATA and ATOL

Perhaos do a bit of a search or may be ask the airline what the standard 'ticketing' procedures are for their flights.

The TA might just be holding your money in their bank account.
