They sorted it out now but will get paid a day later
Not only did they sanction here mistakenly but they also told the charity whom she goes for job searches to cancel any further meetings with her. Its been sorted now but a mistake that should not have happened. I accept mistakes can be made but when your playing with peoples income they should heck before sanctioning anyone0 -
I agree but she is so nice she cant stand up for herself and I would normally but I too had problems with employer in past and the fight has just gone out of me I had years of fighting a big employer. I just want a quiet life
It was a mistake taken by person who saw her last time they didn't log it in correctlybluenoseam wrote: »This is the precise reason why you SHOULD complain, this caused unnecessary alarm and should never in a million years have happened. If the shoe was on the other foot the Job Centre I assure you wouldn't show an ounce of mercy - so don't show them any either.0 -
So this person should get a warning.I agree but she is so nice she cant stand up for herself and I would normally but I too had problems with employer in past and the fight has just gone out of me I had years of fighting a big employer. I just want a quiet life

When she next goes to sign get a complaints form to fill in
In turn write a letter saying she was caused much distress and address that to the DWP manager in Glasgow.
If you want a quiet life this is what happens and when you don't take action be assured it will probably happen again.

My daughter who is disabled got a letter today saying they are stopping her Job seekers from 14th Jan because she never signed on. Now I know at least twice this year I have personally taken my daughter to job center in my car whilst I parked outside waiting for her on double yellow lines (quiet street). She told me on 15th jan her sign on day she went in there as she had an appointment so she signed on then.
She is very upset and crying, and doesn't understand why they are doing this to her despite the fact I know she went
I just checked her bank a/c as I look after her online a/c and she got paid on 03/02/2014 - £175.60 some of that has a disability element
How many more people are being sanctioned like this when they haven't done a thing wrong.
Ok something is confusing me here because I don't see how your daughter could of been sanctioned are you sure her claim wasn't closed?
if a person misses an appointment/ sign on they have 5 working days in which to contact us then the claim would be closed. So on the letter it would have stated you failed to attend on the 15th we cannot pay you jsa from the 1st which would have been the date of the last attendance when a declaration was made
if contact is made within the 5 days an ajacs appointment would have been booked for the claimant to explain there reasons for failing to attend, a sanction would not be reffered to a DM without this taking place. If the customer was sanctiond this would hav been from the date of failure if a signing day i.e the 15th in your case.0 -
I have recently noticed a marked reduction in people working for the Jobcentre that post on here, defending their organisation.
I wonder why.....0 -

Yeah because people are never allowed to make mistakes are they? I'm sure you have never made one?!
What punishment you got in mind?0 -
Whilst feeling sorry for your daughter,it is now all sorted out.
The person at the Jobcentre made a mistake. An apology should be all that is necessary. Even Jobcentre staff are human.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Dismissal.
Mistakes should never be made when it involves a person receiving essential survival money, and if YOU made a mistake as a JSA claimant, you will be sanctioned without mercy. That's how it is. Why should a JSA claimant show mercy when the Job Centre won't? Punishment works both ways.0 -

If you're late for 2 minutes to sign in because of unforseen transport delays, that's you sanctioned. Apologise all you want but they won't pity you and blame it on you. Being human is not an acceptable excuse anymore.0 -

You should let them know if you are going to be late, or get an earlier bus. You would also be in trouble if you turned up at work late with no explanation.
My son's girlfriend thought she was going to be late for work the other day, because the bus had to make a diversion, so she texted her supervisor to warn her. In the end she wasn't late, but that is the correct and professional approach.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
