Job centre what the hell is going on

My daughter who is disabled got a letter today saying they are stopping her Job seekers from 14th Jan because she never signed on. Now I know at least twice this year I have personally taken my daughter to job center in my car whilst I parked outside waiting for her on double yellow lines (quiet street). She told me on 15th jan her sign on day she went in there as she had an appointment so she signed on then.
She is very upset and crying, and doesn't understand why they are doing this to her despite the fact I know she went
I just checked her bank a/c as I look after her online a/c and she got paid on 03/02/2014 - £175.60 some of that has a disability element
How many more people are being sanctioned like this when they haven't done a thing wrong.

Has your daughter called to ask what is going on?
Not sure anyone here can help you.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Yes she called them and she is waiting for them to ring back
Edit they have just rung back appears its a mistake on there part
She is hoping this wont effect her ability to look for work as she is currently seeing a charity to get he into work
I know people on here cant really help just a vent really. Totally unnecessary mistake which ended up upsetting someone who is already fragile and had a few knocks off in life.0 -

Of course they can, with advice on what to do next, ie, an appeal and how to go about it properly.
I'm sure someone will be along to help soon OP.
EDIT: Glad to see it's a mistake on their part. Shame they couldn't get it right the first time instead of having to put your daughter through that.

Ooooh, you'd be surprised. TOO MANY!!0 -
I do wonder what would have happened if she hadn't called.0

So she has been sanctioned in error?

Lots of people are sanctioned unfairly. Good news is alot are overturned. Advisors can be sneaky and vindictive and thats putting it mildly. Not to mention incompetent.:footie:0

Thanks all yes she was sanctioned in error I dont think she wants to complain its just these sort of things should not happen, it upsetting for anyone being sanctioned for no good reason.
Ironic I just dropped her off at a young training place and then she has to go to job centre after. reason I take her is she cant walk far and she has to use back entrance as she cant manage the steps and no lifts0 -
Do you think the Job Centre/ is/are "creating" sanctions ? for their sanction figures, so that they look good. Do individual advisors have targets for number of sanctions ?. The one's that get overturned, are they removed from the figures ? any audit of this process ?0

I think she should lodge an official complaint as they use the 'error' word a lot but if she made an 'error' and missed an appointment for real she would be facing a sanction! Thanks all yes she was sanctioned in error I dont think she wants to complain its just these sort of things should not happen, it upsetting for anyone being sanctioned for no good reason.

This is the precise reason why you SHOULD complain, this caused unnecessary alarm and should never in a million years have happened. Given the nature of the system, all appointments are logged on an IT system, meaning it's human error at play here - someone did not do their job properly & as a result MUST be punished as a result.
If the shoe was on the other foot the Job Centre I assure you wouldn't show an ounce of mercy - so don't show them any either.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0
