Why can't people read the documentation/think the rules don't apply to them

Completely agree - I'm a trained IT Project manager, and my solicitors lack of some kind of documented plan is a significant detractor from their service (even though she clearly knows what she is talking about, and is progressing things at their usual speed).

Typical nonsense reply. Just proves my earlier post that most people are idiots and prove it by imposing their "expertise" in their field on one that they know little about.

The conveyancing process for most properties is remarkably simple and straightforward, and it is simplicity itself to document a plan.

Then, in the same way as you would discover if most of your machines fell over for a number of different problems at the same time, with random and inexact explanations of the problem " I can't find the Any key" - chaos ensues.

The problem is that the public are involved. As this and just about every thread in MSE houses show, people are pretty bad at doing things in an orderly timescale, let alone properly and sometimes not at all, and when you understand that this can affect several houses in a chain and all that "incompetance" adds up to the plan being torn up.

After all try reconfiguring network settings and user permissions when your phone keeps ringing and buzzes with texts for updates-

"how long does it take to enter a few bits of information?- "oh that IT dept is !!!!....:rotfl:
Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
    Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold";
if you can show me one I will produce my daughter's unicorn

There's also the matter of having too much information...if you as the client know everything why on earth have you instructed a solicitor whom you don't trust to do the work properly?

Well because you need to be a solicitor to do certain things such as sign off on the purchase for a lender.

I do all my own conveyancing but at some point I have to have some bits signed off as above.

I'm not entirely sure what your point is here? I'm trained in project management, I work in IT, so my domain experience is not limited to IT, but simply to change management.

I will however agree that people in general are incompetent at completing anything properly or doing things on time. Hence project managers mainly sit there reminding people to do the things they agreed they would do in the first place!

I don't understand the logic of this. Photographic evidence is only useful if you are meeting face to face isn't it?
If we are not meeting them then the photo id has to be certified by a solicitor or other authority.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)

Not restricted to solicitors either. I've noticed a sea change over my years of work. People are certainly much ruder and more aggressive on the whole. Complete lack of patience. Which unfortunately I attribute to them being ignorant and unwilling to accept what is said to them.

Often the people that shout the loudest offer themselves very poor customer service when it comes to their own area of expertise. The 24/7 world doesn't help either. While much administration is aided by means of technology. This much which isn't though.

    Enjoy your mat leave!

My point is a simple one- you have reached an opinion about conveyancing services based on an expectation which is both unrealistic and as you show above, was ill founded.

A plan is only worth the commitment that people have to it, and in the case of house selling it is herding cats.

Oh yes thats is very true it is the Nescafe generation I everyone wants it instant.:rotfl:

I do enjoy the odd question " why is it taking so long"

Answer "Well because.. and I explain in detail".

They are exasperated or annoyed by the detail and I reply laughing "well you did ask now if you truly don't want to know "**** off and let me do what you are paying me an extraordinary amount to do"
