Buy a £15 coat instead.
It's primark, all the same tatt.
Go to a charity shop"And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row."
– after beating Jimmy Connors at the January 1979 Masters. Gerulaitis had lost their previous 16 matches.0 -
where about in UK are you ?0

Sadly, this is the truth about lending - it's there for the benefit of the lender. Any benefit to the borrower is purely coincidental.
And also.... when you owe someone £20, that's your problem; when you owe someone £20m, that's their problem.0 -
Could you use the £15 you have and get a coat from a charity shop?0

Im in Kent, near bexleyheath.
I have looked in my local charity shops, but nothing that fits. They are either too small or too big. They dont have much to chose from
The £30 coat was the cheapest they had. Would of gone cheaper if there was a cheaper one. I have shopped about but primark seems the cheapest place.0 -
Have you asked in the charity shop? Sometimes stock is held behind and not put out
Have you asked on freegle or freecycle? Or Ebay?
Do you have one of those cash for clothes things that you can sell your too large clothes to now? Its about 50p a kilo, but that could help.
Sorry that you are in such an unenviable predicament and i hope you find a warm cost in this foul weather.0 -
What about asking friends/siblings for £15 ?0

Do you have any involvement with, or contact with Social Services?
The situation may be different where you are, but here (Scotland) Social Work do small crisis loans. It can be a bit of a hit or a miss, depending on how sympathetic the person you see is, but they are designed for circumstances such as this.0 -
This HAS to be a wind up...!??
£15 would buy a decent coat in ANY charity shop. Who cares if it's a bit big and baggy - it's still doing the JOB of keeping you warm and dry.
Why on earth would you be trying to BORROW an extra £15 to get hold of a new one? To then be stuck having to find the repayment money the following week?
Where will you get the money to re-pay the loan if you can't find £15 this week???
IF you are genuine, you are a prime example of WHY people should try to live within their means.0 -
Hi,
Check out Ebay or Amazon as there are often deals on there for coats sub £15?
Also worth trying the Salvation Army if they have a shop near you which I always find to be cheaper than a normal charity shop...
Failing that, maybe consider getting just a rain coat and wearing layers underneath? I know it's not the same but could be warmer and the waterproof top layer would obviously keep you dry?
As tempting as that £30 coat might be, it's probably not going to be great and if that turn out to be the case then what you have is a £30 waste and another £15 to find from somewhere
