So what do you think the job centre should be doing with those long term unemployed people that can't find work? I'm talking those unemployed for 2 years + ???

My opinion. Just leave them alone.

There are enough people wanting to work that can't find any. I can't see the sense in pushing people who don't want to work into work.

And let's be fair if the person doesn't want to work and are forced into a job, how long do you think they will last ? and is it fair on the employers ?

I see funding for unemployment no different from funding for prisons or drug rehab programs or the 101 other things the government chose to spend my taxes on.

Provided the unemployed are not committing fraud then fair play to them.

Do you apply the same reasoning to the big organisations avoiding paying tax? After all, what they are doing is legal.

    Of course I do.
Although what that has to do with unemployment I have no idea.

My point was that some around here seem to think it is ok for jobseekers to play the system, but moan about those in power doing the same kind of thing. Wasn't trying to tar you with the same brush, just wondered what your viewpoint was ;)

Yes like you know all the individual posters personally.:T

ive done voluntary work for ages and didnt need the jobcentre to force me. I dont believe in forced workfare as said. Its fiddling the figures and slave labour. Nothing about getting you into work at all.

I don't believe in workfare either.

But some jobseekers don't help their own case. Then wonder why they are long term unemployed.

You sound full of joy about it.

Tip 1 really really consider what t shirt you wear for the placement.
    Tip 2 be on time

Employers don't like people who sit on their backsides day in day out so why shouldn't you have to attend to get your work skills back to a level they should be?
