Aww thank you AMS522. I have become very OCD with my money after hitting rockbottom a few years back. I NEVER want to go there again. I don't think it is a stupid question at all. I have lots (and lots) of different banking accounts online. It means when I get paid I can transfer the money to each pot quickly and easily to keep it out of the way, and when I have to make payments out I can transfer it back quickly too. When I was saving for my Bestie's hen weekend I was paying £1 and £2 coins into a piggy bank I have at home. That worked well. I am quite strict and disciplined though. I have borrowed all the money from my Yearly Insurances pot* but I know I can top that back up bit by bit fairly quickly. If I had an emergency in the meantime, I have a big (to me) emergency fund tucked away that I could access if I absolutely had to.
gib - I am loving reading through your diary. I didn't manage to read yesterday as we are having a Law Society inspection and I was really busy yesterday. A bit quieter today though so although they are still here I am getting away with a quick read on here. I will be back to read more later.
Not much to report today. It is supposed to be payday but I will not be paying myself until Thursday due to changing bank accounts. My account switching date is tomorrow and they say that once the account has been switched there are so many days in which to make the first credit to the account to enable me to get the £100 switching bonus. Lucky that I do the salaries at work so that I can decide what day I get paid (within reason, obviously).
I blimmin' forgot to bring bread for my lunch  I can pop out at lunchtime and get bagels from Tesco which I will put in the freezer at work and I can use for lunch for the next few days so it's not all bad. Just annoying.
Got some money from CSA (thankfully, it's been a while) so I was able to get LMG another pair of trousers for school. Also, I will put some towards the hen (sis's) as I am paying for LMG and myself.
Right, off to do everyone else's salaries then I will be back to finish gib's diary!
*Discipline caved in favour of sis's hen weekend. If she had stuck to 2016 like she originally said then my pot would still look beautiful :cool:Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Aww thanks GAP - glad you're enjoying it!
Hope the inspection went well and work isn't too hectic.
I wouldn't worry too much about the bagels - you will have the rest available if it happens again, and it just shows how much you think about spending for it to annoy you in the first place IYSWIM?

Thanks gib. The inspection is going not too badly. The lady is really nice (which is unusual) and I am listening to what she is saying so that I can learn. She will finish up today and we will get a report on what we are doing wrong (!) next week.
I found that I had enough food in the fridge and in my drawer to create a lunch of sorts. Certainly not a sustainable diet but it will be fine to cover me today. I'm sure the blueberries in the blueberry muffin will count as one of my 5 a day and the 75% milk in the creme caramel desert will count as calcium intake. I did have a boiled egg for breakfast and a toasted teacake with butter for a snack around 11.30am so no one worry, I will not starve!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Oh my poor, neglected diary
I have been sooooo busy at work I have barely had a chance to get on here. When I have been on the past few days I have had enough time to have a look at other diaries but not enough time to update my own.
So, got paid on Thursday. Money transferred to various pots. I now have £107 in the Yearly Insurances pot. I feel a bit better for that. Mini emergency fund is up to £416.04. That will reach the £500 on this month's payday.
I am in credit with ScottishPower to the sum of £115.31 as at yesterday. This will definitely help towards seeing us through winter. I haven't put the heating on yet and don't intend to for a while. I have started wearing my winter pj's though (was a wee bit cold in bed) and so I am finding it to be rather warm in the house. LMG doesn't feel the cold as much as me so I will hold off on the heating for as long as possible.
I paid the £40 from OnePoll to the mortgage and paid £150 from my salary. Just waiting for the interest to update (tomorrow) and I will pay the balance to take it down to the nearest £10.
Grocery shop on Sunday was £29. I still have to get a cooked chicken (£4-5 from Morrison's) and I will pick that up during the week. Happy with all that. I shopped savvy
House deposit savings are up to £279.97Once I have paid the mortgage interest I am hoping to have at least 3p left to take it over £280.
My new current account is fully switched so I am just waiting for them to transfer £100 to my account *rubs hands together greedily*
Off to the parents' house for tea tonightMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

I had 61p left after the mortgage interest. I added that to the £1.20 to round down the tax credit and now my house deposit pot stands at £281.78. In the grand scheme of things it sounds tiny
I'm trying not to get too disheartened though. My spreadsheet projection shows that I will have over £1000 by the end of the year. I am now in the habit of paying £210 per month off the capital of the mortgage at the same time as saving for the deposit so I am doing not too badly really.
I am having to find funds for the two hen weekends. I have cut my sis's one back as much as possible (i.e. LMG and I are not staying overnight, we are not having fake tan done, etc). At least I have another payday before my sis's one and then yet another payday before my bestie's one. Bestie's one is fully paid up for accommodation. We need to take our own food (self-catering) and we will be paying out for a couple of activities but I'm hoping it won't be toooo much more expensive.
I have no idea what is on the menu for tea tonight but the beauty of our menu plan is that I can go home and choose something off it and just make it. This week the only thing we have to defrost before cooking is the pork and I will pick a day for us to have that. The only downfall this week is that I am choked with the cold and I can't taste properly. That means I don't fancy anything at all. I have to eat though or the weight will make a point of running off me. I'm just not bothered about what we eat, nothing is appetising.
I'm off to make my daily 11am coffee and toasted teacake. I usually really look forward to this but yesterday it tasted like cardboard.
To end on a brighter note, it is Wednesday and I finish at 2pm today :j:DMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

So nice to hear from you again GAP. I've been missing your updates.
Try adding ginger to your food, if you like it. Great for the immune system and will help fight off your cold. Ginger and vitamin C. You'll be right as rain in no time!

We had the pizza from the freezer for tea last night. I could actually taste it a little bit. It was nice. Lidl. I will get it again.
Nothing happening on the money-front today. Up to £13.80 on OnePoll but that is the most exciting money thing in my life today...
Got a busy weekend ahead. LMG and I were chatting about it last night and realised that by the time we can sit down and rest this weekend, it will be next Wednesday! :eek:Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Aww thanks AMS. Och I just have manflu haha. I'm not very good at being unwell. I do like ginger, I will give it a go. In fact, I think I have a tube of lazy ginger in the fridge. I wonder if that will work??Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

I would guess so! And it's a means of using up ingredients in true money saving style!'Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.'
