Hon, I did the whole must buy the right shoe thing when my two were small. Dd has since messed her feet up with shoes that pinch her feet and require a degree in stilt walking. You do what you can at the time. That's what matters.

Thanks for that :) I suppose they are only slightly misshapen, not hugely so it's not like I have a daughter who walks about with grotesque claws haha. She actually has quite sweet wee feet :p By the time she got to about age 7/8 it was easier, moneywise. Also, it's not like I forced her feet into shoes that were 4 sizes too small, more like I waited a little too long in between taking her to get new ones. So really, her feet got more space to grow as she got older so they have straigtened out a bit.

Did someone pray for rain?? It rained as I was getting home yesterday so I couldn't cut the grass :D:o

I discovered yesterday, when I got to Lidl and went into my purse for a £1 coin for the trolley, that I didn't have £1.48 in my purse. I gave it to my sister for milk and bits she bought (necessities) on Tuesday night. She was trying to use up the change in her purse to save her breaking a £10 note but was £1.09 short. I completely forgot all about that. I will put the left over 39p in my sealed pot when I get home today.

£14.09 in Lidl and £18.89 in Morrisons yesterday. Well within budget. I don't think I have anything else to buy this week unless we run out of something.

LMG mentioned Nando's for Golden Meal and I have noticed I have enough chillies on my reward card for us to get what we normally get. If I can talk her into it for definite then I would only have to pay £4.90 towards the meal! We are going on Saturday night as she has homework for next week and I have told her in no uncertain terms that if she leaves it until the night before it is due, one more time, I will absolutely lose the plot completely. We agreed that she would do the homework (I will help if necessary) by the end of Friday night so that we have the whole weekend to relax and enjoy.

I spent £25.35 on products from The Body Shop. 4 of the 5 items I bought, I needed. The 5th item was just to take the total over £25 to get the free delivery. It is something that I use but I didn't really need it. Total cost was originally £39 so got £13.65 off and free delivery. I did it through Quidco so as long as it tracks (I have had problems with things before) I will get £1.27 back too. I had planned to go into the actual shop but I read a post on Frugal Queen's blog about a week ago which said she buys from there online for the discounts. Thank you FQ.

Meeting my friend for lunch tomorrow instead of today. She had double-booked herself. We are going round to hers tonight anyway as we have a crochet evening booked. She text me earlier and said she is making a curry if we would like to eat with her. Excellent, thank you very much ;)

    That's it for today :)

Body Shop cashback tracked really quickly yesterday but it tracked at 3% instead of the 5% on the Quidco website. I have queried it.

Meeting my friend in an hour. She may or may not have a drink at lunchtime so I may or may not have to buy. Comes out of pocket money anyway so no guilt.

Tomorrow we (family) are going up north to where my cousin is having a charity coffee morning. It will take about an hour and a half (ish) to get there, we will be there about an hour, then an hour and a half (ish) to get back home. £2 a head for coffee and cake. Hardly worth it really but we have to show willing and be the better people (that side of the family don't always see eye to eye with us). Will come out of pocket money anyway so again, no guilt. Slightly annoyed I am having to spend it on that but at least we are making the effort.

It is 9th May and I still have £30 in the general emergency fund. I am amazed! It is usually gone by now :o I have a monthly delivery from Amazon due next week so that will wipe it out but that is fine as that is really what it is there to cover, it just normally doesn't make it to that. I realised that when I have no money, we get by, so there is no reason to spend it just because I have it. You would think I would have realised that by now eh? To be fair, I did know that but I didn't think to do anything about it.

I also have £13.50 in the wee "emergency fund" I have in the house. I had put the £5 change LMG got from the toothbrushes into the pot. I used £1.50 to buy two bottles of diluting juice last night. It was really a grocery budget item but the £4 odds I have left over from that are in the bank and I didn't want to Switch for £1.50 (I would if I was desperate).

Found 5p road kill in Morrisons so added that to sealed pot.

Off to quickly have something to eat before 1pm.

    Have a lovely weekend :)

    Morning GAP,

It does seem a long way to travel for the sake of an hour and £2 on coffee and cakes but like you say you are making the effort! Hope you have a nice time xx

Well we went up yesterday and it took us about 1 hour 10 minutes so not as bad as I expected. My cousin was delighted to see us so that was great. We were invited back to their house for bacon and sausage rolls for lunch and we had a lovely afternoon. Left there at the back of 4pm! I had misunderstood what the coffee morning was for. It was actually for raising funds for the pony club to go on a trip. My cousin and her family are very much horse people and her younger son is into riding competitively (he is 10). It was fine though as at least we gave our support. My mum paid us in (she blimmin' insisted!) and she gave me money towards petrol.

I spent £5 on raffle tickets. I won a voucher for an hours watersports lesson. I rarely win anything so it was nice to actually win something but could it not have been one of the other hundreds of prizes that would have been far more suitable for me? Oh well, I gave it to LMG and she is delighted!

We went out for Golden Meal last night. LMG wasn't keen to go to Nandos since we had chicken the night before so we went to a local Beefeater and had a lovely meal there. £24 odds but that will come from CSA money. We then popped to Asda to get some sweets and goodies to have instead of a dessert while we watched some TV.

No spends planned for today. There is a couple of quid left in the grocery budget but we don't need anything. I can't remember off the top of my head how much is left in my purse for pocket money but I can't be a$$ed getting off my butt-butt to go and check. A couple of pounds there too I think.

I have some housework to do but I think I will just mooch around other diaries for a while before I give myself a kick up the rear and get some stuff done.

    Enjoy the rest of Sunday.

Thanks giblet :) but I don't really feel like I am doing well, just plodding on and not really going anywhere at the moment :(

I had £3.94 in my pocket money purse but £2 of that was a coin so went into bestie's pot. Got £1.94 left but I am just going to put that in my sealed pot as I don't need anything before Thursday (new pocket money week). There is always the tenner in the pot in the house just in case but I don't foresee needing anything.

We have stuff for meals, meal at the parents' house tomorrow night and grocery day on Wednesday so all fine there too, although still got £2.87 left from last week's grocery budget anyway :D I will carry that forward to this week as my tax credits went down so the budget is now tighter.

I'm on here late today as have been quite busy. That means I won't have a proper chance to look at other diaries today :( 20 minutes to go so I am off for a quick glance :)

LMG asked for more lunch money last night. Hmph! The last lot only lasted her a week. Imagine having to feed them to keep them alive  I jest ;) Borrowed it from the wee emergency pot in my bedroom (I knew that would come in handy!) and I will replace it from CSA money.

Paid the credit card bill today, £739.14 :eek: That was holiday stuff, TV licence, groceries, which I put on every week, and petrol, which I put on as and when. A couple of other bits and bobs that I can't remember off the top of my head but 90% of it was necessities. I had the funds all ready to pay. That's it for another month. There is a balance of £5.99 on the other cc which is due 22nd May. Money is there ready.

Nothing to move around or pot today, sadly. Nothing to spend either though so that's good. Going to the parents' for tea tonight.

I forgot my boss asked me to work all day tomorrow so grocery day will be Thursday instead. Gives me longer to prepare the meal plan and shopping list ;)

£0.00 in purse. Nothing required though.

£40 in grocery budget. Working on meal plan and shopping list, buying tomorrow.

I think I have a tin of mixed bean salad in the cupboard (hope so anyway, as if not I'm screwed) so will make pasta soup for tea (a take on Nigella's Express minestrone).

My dad had a small "thing" removed from his forehead at the GP's yesterday (I don't really know how to describe it, it was a bit like a dark mole but it wasn't actually a mole). They are sending it off for testing and he will get results in 2-3 weeks. I am a little bit worried about him. He is 73 but remarkably fit for his age. My parents go ballroom dancing 5 times a week, he plays golf 3 times a week and he potters about in the garden the rest of the time (like properly looking after it; cutting the grass, shearing the hedges and digging the flower beds). I worry though because I am aware of his age and sometimes he looks really tired now. We are an extremely close family and we spend a lot of time together. I don't know anyone whose family is as close as mine. My sister lives furthest away from my parents, about a 20 minute walk, 5 minutes in the car (max), so we all live really close too. I can't imagine life without my family. I think I am getting a wee bit ahead of myself but I just feel a little bit more sensitive than usual today. Just ignore me!:o:)

It's all a bit boring here today

  • My 83 year old mum had a similar procedure last year. She's not the fittest and came thru it without any probs other than vanity related ones! It's just better to be safe.
