He seems to be ok. Still managed to play golf the day after it was done (although complained it was painful later in the day) and as far as I know, he is off golfing again today. I think it is just because when he sits in his seat in the livingroom he looks little and frail. When he stands up he is pretty much the same height as me (5'6") and is far fitter than me! My grandma (his mother) died when she was about 82-84 ish and she always looked frail so he probably has about another 10 years at least left in him! My grandad died at 63, cancer related, so I can't compare there. I just can't imagine life without him. Right, enough of that talk! He would be quite offended and probably very annoyed if he knew I was talking like this ;)

£20 pocket money in purse. Not meeting my friend this week for "lunch" as I am finishing early today and she has the dentist tomorrow so that is £2.30 saved already! Quite certain I will make up for that over the weekend :o

£40 ready for groceries later. List nearly complete

LMG has a dancing lesson this afternoon so another drive to Dunfermline. My mum will give me £3 towards petrol so I have already done some transfers and have £13 in the petrol account. I really need to put air in the tyres. I hate that job more than the shopping list and meal planning. At least I can sit down to do lists :(

By the end of the day I will have £16.50 in the wee emergency tin I have in my bedroom.

Cleaned out my handbag last night and found 5p so into the sealed pot it went.

I keep thinking it is Friday today. Every Thursday feels like a Friday now. So annoying  Thursdays should be Fridays :)

Well LMG didn't get to her dancing class yesterday. The class starts at 4.30pm in Dunfermline and by 4.30pm yesterday we hadn't even reached Barnton  The traffic was an absolute nightmare. It's not the first time this has happened and it is quite stressful driving to get somewhere for a certain time when the traffic is that bad. We have agreed with LMG that she will only go to the weekday class(es) when she is on school hols. She still has the Saturday class in Edinburgh so she is not missing out completely. I am disappointed for her as she really likes going but its not worth stressing then getting there half an hour late, having half an hour's lesson (paying for a full hour) then coming home again.

So, I didn't get £3 for petrol. I had already made the transfers in my account so went to the garage and put £13 in anyway. My mum tried to insist on giving me the £3 anyway, since we drove around the town for an hour for no reason, but I didn't think it was fair. Eventually I accepted £1 from her. She was not impressed :D

Total grocery spend: £32.80. I did pop 2 bars of chocolate into the basket that I didn't need and also LMG asked for fruit (which I forgot to put on the list :o) but all well within budget so I am happy.

£7.20 left in the grocery budget. I will put the 20p in the sealed pot when I get home. I paid cash this week.

    £20 in pocket money purse.

£14.50 in wee bedroom emergency pot (as opposed to £16.50).

    Have a great weekend :)

You sound like you're doing really well GAP :)

Traffic around me is constantly in flux with how severe it is, my mum (very kindly) gives me a lift in the morning, we leave at the same time every morning and yet sometimes I am early to the station, others I have to get out and walk. It's always a nightmare.

We have thought about that and looked into it a bit. First of all we would have to get to the bus stop (would need to be a stop in the town for the bus to Dunfermline - probably the bus station) which would mean either getting a lift or getting a bus into town first (takes about 15-20 minutes from the school to the town on the bus). Then after driving to the other side of town, the bus would take the same route that we take in the car so not really any faster. Once we get out the other side of town there are no bus lanes to the bridge so the bus would be in the same traffic flow.

The train would be much quicker but, again, we would have to get to the station first and then, once in Dunfermline, get from the station to the dancing hall. Also, the train would be more expensive and we are trying to keep costs low.

LMG is fine with it. She has her class on a Saturday and she can go to the Dunfermline classes when she is on holiday from school. It is only an extra anyway as her regular class is a Saturday.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out INOD haha, it wasn't quite like that ;) But yes, I do like to instill healthy eating habits. When she was at nursery we went on a picnic. One of the other parents said she should get the award for the healthiest packed lunch as it was all fruit and stuff. Tomatoes, olives, strawberries, etc. I hadn't thought anything of it as that was the things she liked. One parent had about 30 sandwiches all wrapped up in tin foil and when I saw that I felt guilty that LMG didn't have sandwiches. She's not so good now though as other people fed her sweeties and now she does have a bit of a sweet tooth. She prefers sweets to chocolate.

Traffic is a funny one. The schools are on holiday today (must be a local holiday - I'm not off until next Monday as we get the bank holidays) and the traffic was so peaceful this morning. I wish it was like that every day. It might be nice again on Thursday morning as the schools are off again (). It's because of the voting but the school isn't even being used as a polling station this time.

I was having a quiet coffee and a blether with my mum on Saturday whilst LMG was in her dance class. A woman came into the coffee shop and sat right behind me (back to back). Next thing I felt my bag move slightly (it was touching my foot) and when I looked down I could see this woman's hand pulling at my bag! I grabbed it and put it on my knee. My heart was thumping. I looked at my mum and she looked as shocked as me. I turned round and looked at the woman and she pretended she was lifting her own bag up off the floor. 2 minutes later she left.

I got a right fright and I have been a bit paranoid ever since. That woman was after my bag. I am lucky she didn't get it. It had all my cards in it, drivers licence (address), house keys, car key, phone, £40 in cash, a letter with my name and address and car registration number on it, pack of fuses and a mini water pistol! (Don't ask). I didn't really react apart from moving my bag quickly. By the time I got over it she was already gone. Terrible. I'm just worried that her next victim might have been a wee old dear who wouldn't have realised. I have taken stuff out of my bag that I don't need day to day and I will be keeping it minimal from now on.

    Anyway, I was lucky so:

£9 in pocket money purse. One of my friends who has just qualified as a beauty therapist has an offer on for treatments (her prices are really cheap anyway) so she is coming round to mine on Thursday night so I can get a nice massage. She is really good and I'm really looking forward to it. £12 for a half body massage (back, neck and shoulders in my case - she gave me a choice of what areas I wanted). I will keep back some of my pocket money from this week towards it to spread the cost out.

£0.00 in grocery budget. Got all we need though, and some.

Bought a new vacuum cleaner yesterday. The one we had was really difficult to use. It was a Henry and not all that old but all I wanted to do was hoover up the dust and bits off the carpet, not hoover up the whole carpet! I will give that to my sister as her carpets are more walked on than mine so it will probably be easier for her to use. It was fine for us when we had our old carpets. Got a new one from Tesco that one of my neighbours recommended and I love it! It is Tesco's own make, in the style of an upright Dyson. £59.50. Emergency fund is depleted slightly but I couldn't bear using the Henry any more.

Beautiful sunny day again - sorry INOD *holds ears whilst INOD screams* I put off cutting the grass AGAIN yesterday as my neighbour (who recommended the vacuum) had a wee baby boy a few weeks ago and we popped round for (another) cuddle. :)

    Happy Monday to all.

£4 in purse (took out £5 to put towards the massage).

Child benefit came in so £30 to birthdays acc, £30 to Christmas acc, £20 to LMG's "needs" acc and £2 to house buyout.

Still waiting to hear back from new ISA provider. I sent them my ID and proof of residence. They sent it all back saying they were processing it. Then I got another letter saying they couldn't verify my residence so could I send them something off their list. I sent an item from their list (which I had already sent) and received it back yesterday with a letter saying their are processing it... I will give up if it doesn't happen this time as I am providing what they are asking for, I have nothing else.

Off to the parents' for tea tonight. Still got food in for meals so hopefully a smaller shop tomorrow.

Going to do payday on Friday this week since we are off on Monday :D

Didn't have the treats in my drawer that I thought I had so just popped over to the shop and bought a galaxy caramel and a packet of crisps (from pocket money so no guilt). They were blimmin' lovely :)
