Oooo, how wonderful for you and your family, congratulations.
I gave up hope of having a grand daughter once my two grandsons got to 16 or so.
Then I got two, in succession from the same son and daughter in law. I was so excited about it all.
They lived abroad so I had to wait a couple of weeks to see the first one 'in the flesh'
Good times to come, enjoy ....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Brilliant news, many congratulations to you all, bet your over the moon xxTreat other's how you like to be treated.

Can we not just celebrate the birth of a baby girl without getting into the whole gender stereotyping debate?

Do people really still stick to the blue and pink colour schemes?
I'm sure it didn't matter at all what sex the baby was prior to the birth but now they know let the OP have their moment of excitement!
And no not everyone sticks to blues and pinks but I don't have an issue with those that do. I'm expecting a little girl (although if she actually turns out to be a he I wouldn't mind either way).
I have pink, blue, green outfits... I've been buying from both the girls and boys ranges in shops, why not??? We also have tea sets AND tool sets for when she's older!!!
However if she chooses to like pink when she's older then so be it.
Sometimes it's just a natural instinct!!
Oh and congratulations to Zak's mum by the way, enjoy all those lovely grandparent moments!!!!0 -

It's not political correctness to believe that gender stereotyping which begins from before birth is harmful to women and society.

How sad that some posters want to rain on the OP's parade :-(
Congratulations to your family - and I understand how exciting it is to welcome a new member of the same sex into the family, to continue the female line ...someone who might - possibly - enjoy the same pastimes as you do!
Mind you, I remember being thrilled when our DD was born - I had 3 sisters and as a little girl I loved playing with them and my 3 boys played differently to us! However - she followed in her Daddy's footsteps - and the very first thing she bought, out of her own money when we were at a school sale - was a pair of rugby boots! She was just 4 years old!
Welcome to the world, baby girl x0 -

Congratulations!
Do people actually care? I do not feel harmed by the fact I had a pink room and dolls instead of my brothers blue room! I studied this and I thought it was !!!!!!!! then, I still think it's !!!!!!!! now

Thanks so much to all you lovely people who have been kind enough to offer your congratulations.
I seem to have been hit by a massive surge of baby hormones somehow because I feel as high as a kite!
lika 86, rest assured this little girl will indeed be gently guided through a life in which education and literature will be considered important, as will good manners, common sense and strong work ethics. Her big brother has just turned 3, and is a lovely polite little boy who is helped and encouraged to read and share and show consideration to others.
Her parents are both education professionals with good standards of education and our whole family will ensure that she will have the best life we can all give her.0
