I thought I'd learned, by giving up the minor 10% on filler items (perhaps 9p if they (Haribo etc.) were total cost of 90p) in return for much more, but that didn't work so maybe I haven't learned at all:(.

It is beautiful in the slow cooker if you have one (and the time ) . About 8 hours on low and it comes out so tender you barely need teeth
