I have 1 month left on part of my mortgage and 6 years on the rest. My mortgage payments will go down by £300 per month from April. Just in time for me to use the money for a bday part for my 60th.
Off to Italy with OH and dd ( and dog ) next week. They are skiing and I will be resting. Driving through Eurotunnel and going through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria and Italy.0 -
So long as you get a long lease when you buy the property (I think most mortgage lenders wont lend to you if it is under something like 50 years) I would not worry too much about which one it is, so long as the rent is not much. I had a property where the rent was a peppercorn a year (hence the term peppercorn rent) and I had another house where it was £10 a year (more normal). I think (but not sure) there was meant to be a new law or something coming out where they had to allow you to buy the lease for the property, but I could be talking small male cows, and when the rent is so low, it isnt worth the £1000 or so they wanted for it, as there was still hundreds of years left on the lease.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Do I need to get the big guns out??
That could be so on flats, but on a house it is no different to owning freehold, so long as you have a long lease (apart from you needing to pay ground rent yearly)“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
