Hope everyone has had a good weekend? We've had lovely sunshine here so been able to sit in the garden and also had a wander to a local national Trust place. We had a lovely dinner out celebrating maternity leave on Friday, and yesterday built all the nursery furniture (drawers took nearly 3 hours!) and put up the curtains. So we now just need to put up a couple of pictures and wall stickers. Tomorrow I'm going to start putting baby's clothes in the drawers. Definitely feels real! Midwife tomorrow for 36 week check.

Been out in the garden much of the weekend- holding ladder for husband yesterday (and finding all the bits he dropped) and then getting some weeding and planting done.

Went to the rowing club this morning, to make the tea/ toast for people, and to finally see the young lad who's borrowing my boat out in it. Then we went out for sunday lunch- I ordered a child's portion and could barely manage that! And I'm now very slowly planting stuff out in the garden to fill some gaps. 7

Had a very twitchy bump once or twice this week- like when your eye twitches, but over my bump, anyone else had that?

    Hi all,

Penguin I am also going to load up the chest of drawers this week, all becoming a bit real. Haven't decided on what wall stickers we are having yet. My 36 week check on Weds.

Arbrighton i am Rh Neg too but they never took blood the day of my anti D injection - just the week before. I see in my notes that i need another test at 36 weeks so maybe i am doing blood weds too.

April i have had a nightmare with mothercare deliveries too. Hope its all getting sorted now.

I had NHS antenatal class yesterday, was good and had a chance to walk around the labour rooms. The midwife teaching stressed the importance of oxytocin levels to enable a good labour, especially the early stages at home, which was interesting.

I seem to be having a bit of the pre baby blues and i feel DH hasn't really been supporting me, i don't think he can really connect with the pregnancy and I am feeling a bit alone with it all.

i have found baby movements are definitely more twitchy than kicks in the last few weeks.

Im looking forward to when baby engages a bit more as my right ribs are so sore, and at times can't even touch the area!

Just to say you are definitely not alone with this. I have at times found pregnancy to be hugely isolated. My OH is supportive, but struggles to know how to do this some times. I also had a (male) colleague at work have a chat with me about how OH was doing because his own experience of pregnancy and early days was that he just felt useless and a huge sense of pressure to make everything ok when he couldn't. I've also definitely been guilty of resenting OH at times because it feels he is less invested in the pregnancy/baby- he's not given up any hobbies, interrupted his career, changed his body etc. But actually when I spoke to him about it (last week while crying at about midnight) he feels a bit jealous of how connected I am and would love to be do more/ have me do less. Bit rambled, but gist is - you are doing brilliantly. You are growing a person, have hormones that make us bonkers and this is probably the biggest change you will make in your life.

I'm definitely at the stage where most of my movements are shifts, wriggles and twitches, with a lot less kicks. Also lots of hiccups.

    Morning guys :)

Hormones have calmed, cot arrived and is now up. All baby's things are organised, just need to order a mattress and hopefully that is us. Since the carry on with the cot, thought I would check the progress with the buggy, issues there but the car seat & base is here so that's all that matters.

Cats can't believe thats a month already. Time certainly does fly.

Penguin, hope your midwife appt goes well. Certainly does feel real when things start coming together. Hope you take it easy now that your on maternity!

Vanilla that's understandable especially when you throw in the tiredness and achness you kind of just wish that your OH could experience some of that so they are in it with you if that makes sense. Try take some time out for yourself. I read something yesterday, can't remember the majority of it but the jist was growing a person is hard work, you need to be kinder to yourself and if that means resenting the OH for a bit then so be it. As Penguin says we are the ones who have to deal with a whole load of changes, and at times it does feel like we are the ones giving up so many things whilst they just seem to sail by almost.

Arbrighton definitely feeling the twitches, it was almost like the skin completely stretched out for me, it was so tight.

Glad the deliveries have arrived April - they really can be useless sometimes, so frustrating.

Arbrighton - same with the movements, although then had some proper kicks again yesterday evening and tonight! I also spent all of yesterday planting all our new purchases (patio and pergola completed last week!) - it's very slow work these days, and unfortunately OH has hellish bad hayfever at the moment, so not much help. He did his best to help despite it though - bless :)

Penguin - enjoy your mat leave, and take care of yourself! I've got 3 more weeks at work, and am desperate to just be able to snooze in the middle of the day! (unfortunately weekends still busy sorting ou the garden/nursury, so am still attempting to carry on through the snoozy periods, possibly not a good idea...).

Vanilla - sorry to hear how you are feeling. I had a chat with OH last night about a similar sort of topic - he likes to give the bump a cuddle, and has started talking to it a bit, and still likes to feel the movements. In fact, I make a bit of extra effort to tell him when bean is having a session, just to 'keep him in the loop'. It is hard though - I keep getting a bit frustrated because he's carrying on with all his usual stuff, while I've given everything up, feeling exhausted and struggling, and sometimes it just doesn't seem fair! I think it helps when we talk to them more...

Edited to add - I've found it incredibly helpful to have other pregnant ladies to talk to. If my work team hadn't all been female with young children I wouldn't have had anyone to talk to about stuff, but as it is, pregnancy and babies are the main topic of conversation, which has been really reassuring.

haha, if I actually let OH loose on the garden, I'd have to supervise anyway so I may as well do it slowly.

He sorted out filling the new big tubs with compost for me, and loaded up my car with stuff for the tip- I'll have to go and ask for help when I get there as some of it's a bit big, but the guys there are usually pretty good at offering.

Just been and had my hair done, and booked in one more appt before due date. Was bloody falling asleep in the chair for pete's sake
  • Hi all,

Glad everyone still seems to be doing (relatively) well! Just 5.5 weeks at work left for me which has crept up quickly!

Seem to have grown out of the first two pairs of maternity jeans I bought (around 16 weeks) which is slightly depressing. So might have to invest in one more pair in a larger size at this late stage otherwise l am not going to be able to keep up with washing! I wear them to work so fairly necessary! I also bought some more tops at the weekend as I was behind with washing and getting seriously bored of the 5 tops I had which work for spring. Bought a couple of tops earlier on that are a bit heavy for spring so they are no good now.

I eventually found that percentile chart for fundal height in my notes (thanks april87 (I think) for mentioning it as my midwife hadn't shown it to me so had no idea! Bump appears to be on 95th percentile which is a bit crazy as I haven't put on a huge amount of weight (1.5 stone at 31w) and both OH and I were small babies. Eek! Imagine fundal height can't be all that accurate though as it must depend on amount of fluid, mother's pre-pregnancy size etc? Oh well. What will be will be.

Next midwife appt is next Thursday and then the following one is only 2 weeks later so they seem to be getting a lot more frequent. It's our last antenatal class tonight (baby care) - have enjoyed them so much so think I'll be a bit sad once it's over!

Hope everyone had a good weekend - another bank holiday weekend next week! We all chose a good time of year to experience late pregnancy :)
Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!

It's not - ours are supposedly specific to the mother's size etc, but my fundal height measurements have varied between about 30th and 95th percentile (the 95th is definitely the aberration - scan and previous and subsequent measurements disagree). I tried to have a look for the science behind it, but had no luck last time - might have another go! I strongly suspect that it also depends on position - my bean is back to back (spine against my spine), and from the amount of wriggling and the size of bump when it was temporarily the other way round, I think I'm quite happy with that - would be totally useless if bump was bigger!!
