Hope everyone is doing OK? My baby had the hiccups for the first time yesterday. So cute. I'm away for my 30th birthday, now at 25 weeks.0

You get free dental treatment when pregnant, have you been? They might give you anti biotics so it doesn't get into your blood stream. Teeth are a common pregnancy problem, think that's why you get free treatment until a year after birth. There's an old wife's tale you lose a tooth for every child. ...I havent lost one and this is my second so fingers crossed it's rubbish lol0 -
I haven't been yet, it only got really bad yesterday and my exemption card hasn't arrived so my dentist still wants to charge me until it comes. It riles me to pay for something that should be free
That's one I haven't heard, I hope it's rubbish too!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

You can get the money refunded when your card come's through, I'm sure that's what it says on the card, right up until your first pregnancy date. Think the risk is the infection getting into your blood stream and getting passed through the ambilical cord. Hope it clears up soon!! Bit mean of your dentist really.0

Thanks sweet - I have bitten the bullet and got an appointment this afternoon - I can't cope with the pain so not really much of a choice, plus one side of my face is looking decidedly hamster-like and is extremely hot to touch
Oh what fun!!
How is your time away?
On a completely not MSE note, I've booked a 4D scan for this Saturday - I got a good deal at a new clinic that has opened nearby and I don't regret it at all - I can't wait to see what he looks like:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Hi All,
Just popping in to say that Baby V was born a day early on 7th December!
I had probably the easiest labour I could have hoped for - my contractions were irregular and 8-13mins apart from the evening before but only actually got painful at about 7am. I had a bath at 11.30am for around an hour and when I got out the pain was pretty much constant and low down in my back/bum. Called the hospital who said to go in but that they were busy and may have to send us home with pain relief - we parked up at 12.57 and he was born just after 2pm! I was fully dilated on arrival but didn’t get the water birth I had wanted - partly because of the speedy arrival and partly because my blood pressure went very high and baby’s heartbeat was dropping. They did call the doctor in who started to say that they were going to need forceps - but at the mention of the word little man popped into the world at a tiny 6lb7oz - I was expecting an 8lber!!
He made a bit of a mess of me and I needed quite a few stitches but we were home the next day and life has been a blur ever since! I can’t believe he’s 11 days old already - nights are hard as he cluster feeds from 10pm-2am but he sleeps for 2 good 4+hr stretches after that, and hubby is off until 8th Jan so hopefully we’ll get a bit more settled before then. Other than that he’s a very contented baby and is more than happy for snuggles with whoever offers! BF is going well now and he only lost 2% of his birth weight and had regained to be 6lb8oz by day 5
I will say I had a bad dose of the baby blues on Day 3 where the exhaustion and hormones just felt completely overwhelming and I spent the whole day crying and thinking I couldn’t do it, but my community midwife team have been amazing - as has my mum who came over on Day 4 and stayed overnight just to give an extra pair of hands around the house and make sure I ate a hot meal (I seem to have lost my abundant pregnancy appetite!!)
I have always found it difficult to accept help and sometimes feel like I’m failing - especially in these short winter days when we only wake up at around 10am and it takes 2hrs to get ready to do anything and then it’s dark again before you know it... I feel a bit like I’m “wasting time” but hopefully I can learn to live with mess and I’m certainly loving every second I spend with the little dude
In summary, it’s REALLY HARD - I know people said it would be but I don’t think I realised how tough it can be - but my advice to anybody else struggling is just to ask for help. My midwife asked if I was OK and it took a lot got me to say “No” rather than my standard response of “Fine” but it’s ok not to be ok and to need a bit of support - that’s what they’re there for
Good luck to all the new additions to the thread! Enjoy the journey, it is so worth every second of waiting! xxx0 -
Congrats Roz! Fantastic news - thanks for the realistic heads up too - I think it's easy to underestimate the sheer exhausted-ness if that's even a word!
Enjoy your lovely new baby boyx
