Hey all,
Whizzybee hope you're in a better place, lack of sleep does not help, so hope that's improved, though so many people have told me it's preparation... I agree it's hard not to worry about movements, but if you are worried don't hesitate to go in and get monitored. Hope things are ok with your next growth scan too.
Sorry to hear you've been unwell Timeflies, hope you're getting the diabetes under control. The appointments do sound very time consuming.
I have had quite a big to do list, but it's been slow progress as I just can't do things as fast as I would have done pre-pregnancy. Everything that had to be done has been and so now it's just some would be nice to get done, sorting out, type things that are left. Among just getting some rest in too.
I have been using one of those pillows and doing yoga since I was about 5 months. Funnily enough my hip pain has gone again. I don't know what made it so unbearable for a couple of weeks, whether I had a burst of relaxin, or just got something out of alignment I don't now, but the last week or so it's all settled down.
Now I'm thoroughly on countdown, I wish they didn't give you a due date, but a due fortnight or something, as as much as I'm trying not to focus on next weekend now, it's impossible not to.0 -
Sorry to hear you've not been well Timeflies
My midwife told me at my 32wk appt that she's moving areas and I'll meet my new midwife at the 34wk appt next week... I'm gutted - she was really lovely and I don't want to change so close to my due date!
My maternity cover started today so once she's up to speed on the company etc I can start handing a few bits over to her. I've got this week and next as full weeks, then I've booked every Wednesday off until I finish at end of Nov to break it up a bit. Just a few bits and pieces left to get now...
*TMI Alert* I had to make an emergency trip to the supermarket for breast pads today as I seem to have suddenly started leaking :rotfl: isn't pregnancy glamorous eh?!?!
Hope everyone else is keeping well, and that you're not kept waiting too much longer saver-j!0 -
36 weeks tomorrow, and touring the birth centre, health visitor coming thu and growth scan fri so I have a packed week! Put in what I hope to be the final order for baby bits to mothercare this weekend, including mattresses for the crib and moses basket. Still the pram to pick up and maybe one more load of washing. Organised baby clothes and bedding into boxes, 3/4 packed my hospital bag so I feel fairly on it preparation wise! Hubby has been doing a fair amount of diy - none of it is desparately needed for when baby arrives but its easier to do it now than when we are massively sleep deprived in a few weeks time.
Roz - me too! Ive been leaking now for about 3-4 weeks, especially my right breast but its only in bed so when I lie and put pressure on it, out it comes! I have seen about 4-5 different midwifes over the past few weeks that Im losing track. My original one went on maternity at the beginning of september so I saw two different ones after that before seeing the one now - but I keep seeing different ones in hospital because of the growth scans. Plus there are the student midwives as well!
saver-j - much better thank you, sleep is a bit tricky still but I think I am more used to it. Because I have a maternity appointment on each day wed-fri (including the health visitor, finally!), I asked to squeeze in some annual leave rather than trying to work from home, which was granted so I have the next few days off, then just one more week at work. Next growth scan is friday so I am hoping baby has had a bit of a growth spurt.
Timeflies - sorry to hear you haven't been well, but it sounds like you are being looked after. I am on countdown mode, only today and five days of work left (as Im off rest of this week)!0 -
Forgot to do an update on here! My LO is almost 6 weeks old, she was born 13 days overdue having been induced. I'll post about my labour.. something I was terrified of but I would literally do it all again tomorrow...but obviously don't read if things worry you, I'm just posting to show even complicated labours can be ok! Going in to be induced was terrifying, I cried all morning before going in as it wasn't how I expected things to happen and it seemed so weird going into the hospital feeling fine but knowing I was going to be put through all my fears.
My pool birth idea went out of the window as I spent a day having contractions with the gel/waters being broken and then was put on the drip to really speed things up, at this point I opted for an epidural as the midwife advised they had to catch up time with the drip and the pain would come on strongly (something I was really scared of but it was painless and amazing!) baby had lots of dips in heart rate so we ended up with the monitor on the babies head, followed by taking her blood during the labour, but luckily all was ok. I ended up needing to be cut and have a ventouse delivery, we were a couple of pushes away from needing an EMCS but I managed to do it - and thank God for the epidural as the poor thing was heavily swollen and weighed 9lbs 4!! When she was born she didn't breathe straight away so we didn't get to see her or find out what we had- they called a team in and luckily got her breathing quickly.
I had two days in hospital and then returned home but didn't really rest much which looking back was really bad as I ended up not feeling too great and needing to go to the doctors for some checks- since I've relaxed and stayed at home more, things have all settled down.
My LO is doing really well, she's sleeping through apart from one wake up per night for milk. She has settled down weight wise and is long more than anything...I'm also shocked to be back in my old clothes which I didn't expect as I'm tiny and had such a big baby!
She has fitted into our lives really well and although it's a huge learning curve, I think we are doing ok! We have had a few scary moments where she has choked quite badly on milk, plus some really really bad nappy rash but other than this she is happy and starting to like being played with a little bit and getting a little personality!0 -
Many congratulations moreofthegoodstuff, really glad things are going well with your baby
. I think more needs to be shared on labour experiences. Whilst everyone may experience something different, so many will go through it and it should always be talked about! There is a possibility I might have to go in for an induction as early as this week (Im only just approaching 37 weeks) and I really don't know what it involves. So the more I hear about inductions, hopefully the more reassured I will be!

Thank you whizzybee! You're right, we should share more experiences- the positive the better! You will be fine, I didn't find anything particularly painful in terms of them putting in the gel or breaking my waters (I'd been told lots of awful things but I found it to be fine) and I didn't have the experience of being put on the drip at a normal speed so can't say how that was, but for me the epidural helped loads and I would have one again in a heartbeat. Also afterwards was barable, even with stitches I was ok with some normal painkillers and could get around/blood loss wasn't as bad as I expected.0

Congratulations on your little girl moreofthegoodstuff !!
Thanks for posting your labour story. It's good to hear you feel positive about it despite it not going to plan. I am getting more worried having gone past my due date, as I've only ever heard bad things about induction and it's now being mentioned for next week if things don't happen before. So it's really good to read your positivity on the experience.
How were your appointments / scan whizzybee? Is that why they're talking induction this week for you?
I think I need to plan some things in for this week that I really want to do, then I've got something to look forward to if baby doesn't make an appearance.
Hope everyone else is doing well.0 -

Saver-j they are not happy with how much weight the baby is putting on, I checked the estimated foetal weight and each week it only seems to be gaining about half the weight it is supposed to be. That being said, the rest of the measurements appear to be following the curves nicely (head, stomach and leg bone). Certainly not an inactive baby either. So tomorrow I'm having the Doppler which I think will make sure baby is getting blood flow and nutrients it needs. They could decide tomorrow to induce me. Last week it was estimated to weigh 5lbs 8oz and I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow. They can only do growth scans once every two weeks so if I'm not induced, I have another one a week on Fri.
So I'm now on mat leave, 4 days earlier than planned and we had a last min prep/tidying/washing session on sun so we are as ready as we can be. If I am induced it means I can't go to the hospital I wanted to but I don't mind that. I have been upset about it, I just have images of my baby being whisked away and having to be hooked up to wires and machines and I'm also stressing that I might not have eaten or drunk the right things or enough of things. Even though I know full well that I have been (although I dfid eat a lot of McCoys beef crisps early on!). I had mentally prepped for natural labour or induction past the due date but not this.0 -
Whizzy I hope everything is fine tomorrow. I believe 37 weeks is classed as full term so I doubt there would be any whisking away of the baby. Having had my ante-natal class at the weekend when they focused a lot on labour, some of the trick seems to be staying calm and happy (release of oxytocin helps things along). Easier said than done even without the worry about the baby and induction but I'm sure it'll be fine for you.
I'm being sent for a growth scan tomorrow as the measurement the midwife took on Monday is the same as it was 2 weeks ago so hopefully the measurement was just wrong but we'll see.
