I still have £70 left for two of us. Lydl has 70% off fruit and veggies. I do like to give my custom to our local market but popped in there yesterday and bought cauli for 30p and today made cauli cheese with sausage bake. Very tasty it was too followed by strawberries bought for £1 from local smallholding. I normally hate cooking but enjoying planning meals from scratch with little outlay.
  • Thanks for the opinions about Costco, I've got a few thoughts on the subject.
They are definitely not cheaper than own brand, but if you've got a brand you can't (or wont in my family's case with cereal) give up then there are savings to be had. We're lucky ours is quite close, and they do do very cheap food in their cafe (huge jacket potatoes with cheese chiili etc for about £1.50) SO if I really can't be bothered with cooking it's cheaper and healthier than fish and chips.
Also books and DVD's are good value. We tend to use the library but it's helpful for pressies. Clothes quite good too.

I guess you have to really be self disciplined and think hard before you buy.

Very impressed withgoing to Lidl 1st, then Mr T for other stuff. Seems to be saving me a fortune. :T

Had my HUGE delivery from Mr T (£20 off if your bill is £150 or over) around lunchtime. After last times hassle with "No bags" I requested "Bags" this time and would you believe it half the delivery was in bags and half without bags. I guess they employ Orcs in their pick and pack department . Anyway, cupboards, fridge and freezer are full up so next fortnights shop should be really low cost :j.

One thing though, I'm trying to give up smoking and they had an offer on Niquitine patches, so I ordered 2 packs. Guess what, they'd run out of stock . Typical ain't it, I blame the Government :rotfl:.

Well folks it,s my second month at the g/c, gave myself £25 per week which seems lavish by o/p standards but that is/was they I live (d). This week my spend has been £6.16 so far, and that included a bottle of wine! (not the greatest I,ll grant you) and I,m probably eating more at home this week that I have for a while. Bulk cooking must be the reason for this, got my waste down to almost zilch, and even remembering to take stuff from the freezer in time to eat. Going for a sizable shop on Friday so we,ll see how that goes, I,m very pleased with myself

I spent £16.66 in M&S yesterday for my mums birthday tea!! Extravagent but nice:) There are leftovers too which will feed us today. Especially as DH forgot to take his leftover pizza to work - his loss is my gain.

So need to adjust my meal plan as don't need tonights meal as eating leftovers. Need tea bags and cereal as well so need to pop to Asda tonight.

    Hello all,

I'm doing quite well on my new shopping way of only buying exactly what I want, with the help of a list and not buying "surposed bargins"

So far spent £113.52 - finish 27th July - Budget £265 (these alot of month left yet thought :D )

Tesco 2 jars of their own brand Mayo (not basics), I love mayo and this brand is the next best to Hellmanns 74p x 2 for a big jar.

    2 Punnets of Cherry Toms

    Total £3.46

    New total £116.98 - finish 27th July - Budget £265.00
