Rose Water is used as a toner in the beauty industry - you can expect to pay about £3.00 for 500ml, or £10.00 for 4 litres at your local hair and beauty wholesaler.

    Would that be 'edible' quality?

Hi - Really like to have a go at this - Queenie, I'm sorry I can't open your method - any chance you would PM me? Turning_into_Scrooge will it be ok to use just normal water, the stuff I got from Boots says it also contains alcohol which I'm thinking is the preservative? I want to use it in my iron.
    many thaks

When I make lavender water to use in my iron or as a linen spray I always put vodka in to keep it fresh, otherwise it turns brown and goes off.

I make lavender water with lavender oil, distilled water and vodka so I guess the same can be done with rose oil. I only use fresh lavender when I'm doing a vinegar as that leeches out all the lavender goodness and stops it going off.

If you are using essential oils and want to blend them with water, you should add the oil to (high proof) vodka for non body use or (full fat) milk for use on the skin. (To disperse an oil in the bath etc.)
  • Rose geranium essential oil has a similar fragrance to rose oil which is very expensive indeed. you can buy rose geranium from Holland and Barret or other health food shops. Add 5 drops oil to a plant mister with 250ml. water to use for ironing spray.shake well to mix. Wont keep more than a day.Morwenna post has great advice on use of essential oil.Hope this helps.

Yup thats exactly what I do!

I learnt about the milk thing whilst visiting family in Australia. They have essential oil parties over there where a lady comes and demonstrates the different oils and what they are to be used for. She sets burners going and gives massages - very enjoyable evening.

    Hi brixtonian,

There's an older thread with some suggestions of where to buy rose water and also a recipe that might help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the ideas together.

  • My local asian foodstore sells this for approx £1 for a 190ml bottle. Oh and it's safe for food use too just incase you fancy adding it to a pud or something ;)
