  • Thanks, Puzz. I know I have two years to go before reducing hours, but I have decided I am going to come home early at the proper time at least three days per week and am going to ask to work from home for one day a fortnight. Don't think that's too much to ask. It will go a long way to reducing stress levels.

Its funny how so many of us are the same......work from home, take stress in the job, spent too much on the family, took our eye off the budget, consolidated in loans, consolidated in the mortgage, absolutely had enough, couldn't do it anymore, entered DMP's......are we better now? You can be bloody sure we are  !!!!!

I just wish this is where I was 20 years ago! I could have then lived for 20 years being as I am now and probably then have been prepared for anything and everything.

HB - I relate to every post you make :)

  • Yep , mortgage payment holidays is another one to add to the list of financial destruction ! Been there, done it all .

It's taken me 5 years of virtually having no life to catch up with it all ,single mum on a non brilliant salary but i'm nearly there with zero debt & mortgage only to realise at the age of 56 i have a very serious pension shortfall so i'm stumped !!! Keep going HB you have very strong willpower .
  • So many of us in the same boat. I too wish I had seen the light years ago, but until you actually get to the point you can't continue you just carry on with the destructive spend cycle. I'm lucky that my pension, apart from a rubbish AVC, is on track to give me a decent income in retirement. I think I have called a halt on self destruct spending just in time. Could be better, but good enough. Let's see if I can end this month with a small increase in the buffer fund savings of £150. I'm also doing the £2 per day in a pot to save up for next Christmas, encouraging family members to stick their £2 coins in, and the save in £s whatever week of the year it is. Sticking to it pretty well so far, but then, the weeks are only in single figures so far...

Car has been serviced and tyres replaced in preparation for the trip to France the week after next. £84. Pleased with that. Thought it was going to be a lot more. We are lucky we have a garage and mechanics we can trust. Getting on with trying to clear spaces in the house today. DD has just moved into her new place and taken the vast majority of her stuff. How come the place still looks like a bomb hit it?

  • Loving being in my craft/workroom now its all organised. Got back onto selling on eb@y this afternoon. I've decided to sell as much of my surplus stuff as I can with all the proceeds going to the buffer fund. And now I have proper space I can get on with making my little bits and bobs ready for when the carboots start again. Good day today.
