    Hi HB :)

You know these income and expenditure forms - T3sco must have their own and it is bound to be virtually the same as the Step Change or CAB forms. I used all the headings from the CAB form and sent 10 out to various predators over Christmas - eight have accepted and I am awaiting replies from two.

I thought all of your debts had defaulted (as mine have :o) and in honesty that may be the problem. As I think about it.......if you told T3sco firmly that new lower payment is all they are getting what would they do? They would accept it and default / pass to DCA's etc.......all the things that you don't need to worry about anyway.

I think you are fighting for the privilige of staying with T3sco's Collections Department and not getting passed on........who cares? As you are going to be defaulted anyway HB pay them what you calculated you could afford - you were just being polite in asking for their permission anyway! :) That's an order :)!!

It really is all a game HB.....isn't it?

I thought pretty much the same tbh but wonder if you'd perhaps find that too stressful. If you need any help with your I&E form, I'm more than happy to look it through for you. Alternatively continue with your current agreement, get the others sorted and then we can re tackle T3sco x

Hi HB, sorry to hijack your thread for a minute... Brogden and granny do you not get threatened/landed with ccj's and/or charging orders if you own your home and do the token payment route? Just curious....

    Hi Puzz x

No... I have had none of that at all and am not expecting any :)!!

If an offer to pay......£1.00 per month on a debt of £12,000 (my Gnats Vest debt for example) is accompanied with an I&E form which shows that is all that can be paid to them then that's it :o !!

When I first joined MSE a while ago I used to have panic attacks at the stories in the DFW forum  . I can only assume these people had been more remiss than even I. Keep in touch with them, make sure there is a payment arrangement that is agreed by them and all is peaceful. Occasional payment review of course :) Have an income & Expenditure form all up to date to send to any who may want it every six months or so.

Its nothing to be proud of......the debt is still there but the control we have is so much more than I would have ever imagined.

If you can only pay £1, £2, £50.76 per month then that is all you will be paying......make sure the I&E backs that up.

HB - just pay T3sco the the figure you had already worked out and offered - its your call, not theirs :)

  • Hi HB, In the final analysis you have come such a long way already, that now it is just a matter of standing your ground with your predators. You are entitled to repay your debts at a rate that does not leave you constantly feeling under pressure and stressed. Stay focused and strong.

Hi Puzz, nope I've had the same experience as Brogden. As long as you send a sensible I&E form, explain why you are now struggling and keep in touch and up to date with the agreements, they are happy to accept your offerings. I can only think there was a category on HB's I&E that was deemed unnecessary.

  • Hi guys. I used My Money Steps from the NEDcab site that generates an I and E and pro rata offers. The category they wouldn't allow was for household maintenance. I did ask how I was supposed to deal with things like a broken boiler, or repairs and maintenance not having any savings or lines of credit and they just said it wasn't allowed to be taken into consideration and tough basically. Anyway, I'll carry on with the payment as usual till the next review, then try again. I hope the others are more reasonable.
    Feb 2014 to now

I can't help but think that your case has been reviewed by a school leaver and the decision made by a computer

If it was me, I would change the standing order to the amount I had calculated and pay them what I had decided. I would at the same time send a letter of complaint pointing out the ridiculous errors of their ways and give them a friendly indication that if their final response did not accept the points I made that they would be hearing from the FOS.

The other option would be to stop payments altogether whilst they deal with the complaint but I would be happier paying them something just in case.......(see Puzz's concerns!)

Its your call HB but you don't have to accept this :) !

  • Tesco should use the common financial statement which includes an amount for household maintenance - this is a permitted category.

The common financial statement that all debt advisers use lists everything separately but when you send the financial statement to the creditors you just send the summary so for instance the Food/Housekeeping category includes Food, Cleaning, Nappies, Smoking, Clothing, Pet Food etc but on the summary it just comes under Food/Housekeeping and no one knows how it is broken down.

I know you don't want the hassle but I think you should write back to them to say that you have spoken to a debt advice charity and they have advised that household maintenance is permitted and it is better to put this money aside each month until needed than keep paying the same rate and then when something goes wrong you have to stop all payments.

Do not let Tesco bully you - do everything by letter. They are trained to convince you that you are wrong and eventually you agreed to keep the payments the same. This is exactly what they wanted.

If all the other creditors accept the lower offers (which they will) then you cannot pay Tesco the original amount as this is unfair on the other creditors.

I am happy to help with the financial statement if you want me to (I see Granny has also offered). I am a debt adviser in real life and can help with the allowable figures for each category.
