Reeling from the Reality Check

  • The payments are all scaled to about 1% of each debt, so it will be ages until one is paid off completely. The smallest amount is £2400, so if by some miracle I come into a lump sum, that will be the first to go. The actual amounts range from £2400 to £9900 across 8 predators. At least they are all into the single thousands now and by Feb the total amount will be down below £50000. That will be the next milestone, I think.

And that will be here in no time at all :T.

So great catching up with your diary. Great achievements. And no added debt over Christmas, that is something to savour. Hope you are still enjoying x
  • I love having family over at Christmas, but it does add to the expense and workload. I had a day off yesterday, but apart from that I've been cooking, cleaning and entertaining since 23rd. And some of them are staying till after New Year. Going to try to have another NSD today, even though the fridge is starting to look a little bare. Steeling myself to not go to the shop and use what we have instead. Pasta for dinner tonight, I think.
Going to try to chill out a bit today as well when they are all out.

I have been determined to not go food shopping for as long as possible. If I can make it til the 4th Jan that would be ace

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Ahh, had to go to the food shop. Needed some essentials, but kept to the list and won't need to spend anymore now till Jan. The piece of pork I got before Christmas will do for New Years Day. Got visitors now will 5th Jan! More expense! I have, however, been religiously freezing leftovers, so will bring them out if necessary.
Enjoying the time off work. It makes me think I really could do with cutting down, but with the debts to pay off, it's not feasible. I've got to keep going for at least another two years until the pension kicks in, then can think about reducing working days and taking part of the pension. Maybe go down to three days. That would be ace. Things are much better when you're not rushing about everyday.
Looking forward to 2015, I really want to step up the additional moneymaking to go towards paying down the debt monster. Thinking hard what to do about that.
Looking forward to enjoying the next week of time off work. Peace!

  • Thanks INOD, chevalier and hohum.
Have decided to go teetotal for January to see if I save money and lose weight.

  • Just worked out I have £266 to last till next payday, 23 days away. That's £11.56 per day. Going to see how many NSD I can have between now and then. Total will be in my sig. Def no more food buying apart from absolute essentials. Got to get the budgeting right this next year. I can't keep lurching from one payday to the next, so I'll be thinking really carefully about how to manage things from Jan. YNAB. I need to learn how to use this properly.
Positives...debt total is going down...First Christmas without using credit...house is much more clean and tidy now I've got rid of a lot of clutter.
Aims for 2015...declutter and finish off my workroom, then use it...finish off decorating downstairs...get garden done in time to sit out in Spring.
Work...stay where I am and work towards cutting down to three days a week as soon as I can afford it. Thinking back over the last year, I've come a long way and need to keep going. Now the debt mountain is under control I feel a lot better in myself.
