Oh, thanks LMD! I do try to stay positive, because I spent so much time worrying and being depressed about the debt before I was able to do something about it. Hopefully, now you have had your moment of realisation, you will be on the way to financial freedom! Good luck and thanks for subscribing! That's the best way to look at it. You're on the right track now so it will take care of itself in time!
I'm fortunate that my wife is equally aware of our situation - so in that respect it's one less stress to hold- and we are both keen to get the debt paid off.
But that's not to say it doesn't negatively affect both of us. When it comes to the end of the month and money is tight both our moods changes for the worse. It's awful really. You can see why money drives people apart I think.
However come the end of September we'll have our biggest ever household income and fingers crossed be able to get this debt paid off fairly quickly!Overdraft #1 £1300; Overdraft #2 £400; CC#1 £7258; CC#2 £978; CC#3 £812; CC#4 £330; Car Finance £6000;

Thanks LMD. You're so right about that end of the month feeling! And you will be really pleased about your raised income! Hope it all goes well for you. I've got one NSD down...four more to go!
Hope the carboot goes well tomorrow! Aiming for at least £50.Feb 2014 to now

Hit the £50 target! And got rid of a load more stuff. So I now have £150 to last me until 22nd Aug. £9.37 per day if I manage to not spend anything till Weds. Will try not to spend on Weds by taking own food and drink to campsite from what I have already bought in. Today still counts as NSD because I took the carboot fee out of the profits. Two down and three to go.
Space is appearing in the front bedroom again. I might get it sorted and decorated to use as my hobby room by the time I have to go back to work! Just have to persuade OH to get rid of the old videos, games machines, printers and speakers...I bet none of them work! I'm not the only hoarder in this house. I'm on the way to becoming a reformed hoarder now, though. I aspire to become a minimalist! I really do.Feb 2014 to now

Haha, seaside. Those old electronics have got to go. Having a paperwork day today. Carrying on sorting and organising the muddled filing system. Also searching for insurance docs...they are here somewhere! Today's positives...
Sun's out...it always seems better when the weather is good.
I have £50 more than I thought I was going to have, due to yesterday's carboot.
OH won a massive pack of meat in the pub raffle last night...gone in the freezer.
Looking forward to a good day.Feb 2014 to now

Have a GOOD day Historybuff! Attitude is really important!!! I have been following your thread since you started and have thought that you seem to be very resourceful ( and positive!). I have done carboots myself in the past and know how hard work they are(loading up, unloading, loading up again, putting away in storage for the next time... Its a lot of work for not a lot of thanks! Good on you for sticking with it, its worth it to have even a few pounds more coming in than there are going out...stay with it! AND you have managed to even fit in a holiday!!!! :T I wanted to ask you if it is easier for you now you can be a bit more honest with your OH about things being tight?0 -
Just wanted to say well done on all you have achieved so far. Very inspiring!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Thanks MHP. The money from the carboot makes up for the effort involved. And getting rid of stuff is good too because now I donate most of what I don't sell to the charity shop. It is much better now that OH is aware of the purse tightening. He doesn't know the full amount because he would have an almighty fit and tbh as long as he knows the debts and mortgage will be paid off by the time I retire he's fine about it. I think he's pleased I'm not using credit cards at all now, so at least he knows the debts are steadily reducing.
And thanks purpleprincess. If my story is helpful to others that's great.Feb 2014 to now

So I made four NSD. Got to spend a bit today to get a few supplies for the festival trip. Spent all day yesterday washing, ironing and packing up the van. I hate packing with a passion. I'll feel free when we set off later this morning. Roll on 11am.
Wet weather gear all packed...can't believe the weather change just in time for our week outdoors! So looking forward to it, though.
Had a nice surprise when I checked the bank yesterday...there was £170 more than I thought in there. This is because that amount was already committed for some bills that were due to come out when I looked previously. I'm going to try to save it towards the buffer money. It could be the first £170 towards the £3000 I'm aiming for. I will try to survive on the cash I have till 22nd. 16 days to go and £144, including the £20 I'm owed from friends for paying the campsite fee...£9 per day. I can survive on that.Feb 2014 to now
