And so it was, guys. Thanks. Ended up having a lovely impromptu evening with friends and family. That's the best - not planned, everyone bringing something in and a lovely time had by all.

Good carboot today...£91. That will help when we are on our travels next week. Have given all the left over stuff to charity...fed up of looking at it now. I will just have to sort out some other stuff to take next time. More clearance!
Having a rest just now before getting on upstairs to get the rooms ready for family coming next Fri. I love that there is a lot less stuff to work round :)

  • I'm not happy about the situation and keeping it secret. It's absolutely hard enough as it is trying to keep myself going and not falling into depression about the whole thing. At the moment I'm focusing on making payments manageable and beginning to address things with creditors to move forward. I have to concentrate on that. I can't continually be drawn into discussion about OH etc I'm well aware that this is a fraught and difficult situation without it continually being brought up. I'm on this forum because it's the only way I can talk about the debt problem. I have no one I can talk to about this. The anonymous forum is allowing me to think about and verbalise what I've spent years in denial from. Before last week I never even let myself think there was even a debt problem. I need to be able to focus on sorting the actual problem out. I'm not ready, or even remotely anywhere near being able to delve into other issues. So, I'm really grateful for all the advice and support offered by people who read my diary, but, please, don't press...Its not helping. I am in the early days of dealing with this huge debt mountain and need this space to actually say out loud what I've been keeping in for so long.

Im in the exact same boat as you xx

Hi timeforaction, I've come through that feeling now. OH knows there is debt and I'm paying it off, but doesn't know the scale of it. He knows the ccs have been cut up and I have no overdraft. Think he's glad I'm taking action, getting the debt down and not spending more than is coming in. It's taken me six months to get here.
Hope you're OK time...have you got a diary?

I'm on a dmp with stepchange started Nov last year with a whopping 60k debt.. Its now down into the 58k's which is lovely as I've been battling with it for 5 years and it hasn't been going anywhere....!!

My OH knows I have debt but has no idea how much... The only people who know are on here...!!

I wish you luck with your journey and shall subscribe to cheer you on.

Best thing to do is prob work out how much you owe and ring Stepchange to speak to one of their advisers who will be able to give you advice on what to do. I rang them at first and they were really sympathetic and helpful which helped me sort out my plan of action to deal with it.
