Thanks grannyx2, I will wait to see if they contact me I think and go from there. Had a no spend day today, so feeling good about that. Daughter struggling with really bad cash flow problems, so helping her contact her bank to see if she can get a business loan or overdraft to see her through this downturn in trade and get some stock. It's so bad :( Son also struggling as well, so has borrowed my car to get to his weeks freelance work. Thankfully other daughter is completely fine, so not worried about her. I'm so gutted we are all working so hard and still struggling along...

It's hard to stay positive when you have just worked out that you have £5.50 per day for the next 18 days till payday :( and hardly any fuel in the car...and the dregs of a wine box in the fridge...
Positives...enough food to last...plenty of dog food and enough toilet rolls.
I see as many NSD as possible coming up. Worst thing is not being able to afford to go to a pals party. Being hard up sucks!

The party is next Sat, Direction, but there is also another one the following Sat and both are far way, so full tanks of fuel are needed to get there. Think I'm going to have to choose which one to go to :( so at least I can go to one. There's presents to buy too. Hate, hate, hate being hard up.

Hi Historybuff, I know it feels tough for you right now, but believe me, being in debt and being hard up may not be fun, but there are worse problems that can affect you. Firstly last weekend, I heard that my eldest brother George was in Hospital with pnuemonia and in Intensive Care. Then on Tuesday, my eldest daughter woke up to find she had no feeling in her legs and could no longer stand or walk. I had to go to Wichester to be with my daughter in Hospital, but had to return home on Saturday evening to London, as I am starting a new job today. My brother is slowing responding to treatment so is in the High Dependency Unit now, but unfortunately my daughter is worse.

Trust me, when a say that it may seem unfair that you have to choose what party you have to go to or even find you have to decline invitations to both of them, but this is a temporary situation. You will never be this hard up again, as you are working very effectively to reduce your debts month by month.

Your daughter may find that she is struggling to keep her business afloat, but all you can do is continue to be loving and supportive, but allow her to find her own solutions to her business problems. It is hard, but as parents, sometimes we have to take a step back and allow our adult children to face their financial problems head on and work out their own solutions.

On a lighter note, I have finally lost 2lb in weight. Hurray!! I am really trying to change my eating habits and incorporate my exercise in my daily routine.

Ahhhh...thanks sugarbaby for putting it all into perspective. So sorry to hear about your problems :( hope your brother and daughter start to feel better soon and improve. You are quite right. There are certainly far worse things going on. I have pulled myself up, given myself a shake and a god talking to. I shall be thankful for what I can achieve.
Good news on daughter's business front. She has been granted a business development loan that will solve the cash flow problem, so that's good. I'm so glad she is doing it herself. You are right too about me stepping back and letting them solve their own problems.
    Thanks sugarbaby! X

It will not always be like this - my mantra for those kind of days. It's not so much the being hard up but FEELING the full force of being hard up, which is a bit different.

Hey, £5.50 with some judicious use of no spend days is £38.50 a week. I'd be aiming for some really underspent days to fund the spendier days.

And re presents, you're quite handy/crafty aren't you? Reckon you could knock something nice up in time for the party? My stand-by - home made jams and preserves. I always have a few jars and usually enough packaging to make some nice little mini hamper for emergency gifts! There's some relatives that now I can't give anything else to, the delivery of home made jam is relied upon!

Thanks hohum. You are quite right about the craft thing re presents. I have found a good photo of all us group of friends and have decided to print it out and put it into a nice frame I already have for one present. Two NSD down, so plodding on.
Just checked noddle file and have two defaults, two late payments and four up to dates marked. 1/5... Eek!
