  • I am not sure whether you have considered using cash back sites such as topcashback as every time you buy something on the internet then you go through this then you can earn cash back.

Today for instance I have done my car insurance although just obtained a quote which earned me £3.00, (the cheapest quote was no cash back for that but earned myself a Meerkat (which my grand-daughter will love) then I changed my broadband which earned me £105, I also changed my gas and electric and managed to save £179 per annum but also got paid £42.50 for the privilege. When it comes to buying my household insurance I will go on a comparison website and search for cash back and then go through the top cash back.

I also do surveys on mysurvey, toluna, Ipsos and valued opinions which I take back in Amazon vouchers (loads of other things that you can purchase with your rewards) which I then save up and use for christmas/birthday pressies.

Thanks guys - I'll have a look at those sites. Seaside - I didn't make the spa break - not well enough. Went back to work this morning, but had to come home at lunchtime. Feeling really rubbish. At least I shouldn't spend too much money! Wonder how many NSD I can get in the next 14 days till payday!

Historybuff it is a real shame that you were too ill to have your spa pamper day. I want to say that you are an inspiration to many other money savers, you have really got on top of dealing with your debts in a very effective way. I have subscribed to your thread. I hope you are back to the best of health very soon
  • Take care hb and don't be rushing back to work until you're properly fit. If you do you'll take far longer to recover fully.

Thanks all of you. I really appreciate your lovely comments. I've carried on back at work: two meetings today that would have been difficult to rearrange, but feeling ok. People at work know I'm feeling under the weather, so if I get tired I will go home. I'm better off keeping going so I don't get a massive pile of stuff t sort out.
Regarding the finances, I have had a little slip. Daughter struggling a bit with business, so I lent her £150 to buy some stock. I know I should not be doing this, but I coudn't stand by and let her sink. I will make sure she pays it back £50 per week, unlike before when it would get written off! The budget can stand it -it is some of my buffer money. The difference now is I am aware that I am only lending what I have spare. In the past I would have merrily put it all on the credit card. I feel a bit guilty though. Couldn't help myself.
Apart from that, another no spend day x

Thanks, turfy. Feeling a whole lot better.
Productive day. Still on track with spending, despite helping daughter out. Looking forward to the day I achieve my saving/buffer amount targets. Today was a little spend day...succumbed to coffee after work. £1.20 so not extortionate.
I had a little wobble earlier about the amount I have owing. I must force myself to look at it in 100th chunks and little steps. Every month is one step closer to debt freedom. I have already taken four since LBM! And the amount is now slowly starting to go down. I keep telling myself that the debt not increasing is an achievement in itself after a lifetime of chaotic finances. Positive self talk is the key. I'm proud of myself for keeping going. My mindset is well and truly changed thanks to this fantastic forum and website. Thanks to you all for helping me on my way!
