Hi seaside, getting there with the organisation. I'm not naturally organised, so I really have to work at it. The finance side of things is definitely much more on track, but decluttering the house is going a bit more slowly; I can certainly see improvements, though.
First NSD done. Bank account checked and YNAB budget tweaked.
    Today's positives:
Have decided on a business idea, shared it with daughter and she thinks it's a goer
Music festival tickets bought for August...def going - Yay! (OH got them yesterday, but I'm saving up to pay back my share)
Got the house to myself till Sunday...it's going to be peaceful!
I'm determined to get on top of the decluttering, so have decided to get rid of a rubbish bag a day. Every day I will fill a bin bag with unwanted/not needed stuff to either throw away, charity shop or car boot. That's at least six bags of stuff by Sunday. And I if I clean and tidy at least one area of the house a day, that's six areas done.
Right - time to get on. Have a good day all.

Well done! Wish I could get up some enthusiasm to do a bit of decluttering.

DH and I used to play golf and between us we must have about 9 or 10 sets of clubs to get rid of. We want to keep the last set each we bought as we intend to still play from time to time just not regularly through a club as it works out too expensive!

Keep saying we ought to do a boot sale to get rid of all the extra stuff but have been taking the odd bag to charity shop or clothes recycling via the local council.

Hey joedenise, Do a carboot. You get some cash for stuff you don't need anymore and it can become a little bit addictive. I feel as if it is free cash!

Second NSD down. Purse still intact!
Made loads of stuff for daughter's stall last night, now suffering with really aching back. Enjoyed doing it though!
    Today's positives:
Got a meeting later today about a new job opportunity
    Washing's all done
Looking forward to an evening doing my crafts, making as much mess as I like
    Have a good day all!

    Hi History,

Just read your diary in its entirety and wanted to say that I think you are remarkable and well done on your progress so far. I too am working to clear my debts before retiring (am 53 soon) and my OH does not know about the debts - he absolutely hates borrowing money - wish I could have been the same.

I too have funded my family, youngest at university and paying her rent as her student loan would not cover her accommodation costs and she still needs to eat etc - I could insist she gets a job but her health was poorly a few years ago and I am very reluctant to put any additional pressure on her and therefore will continue to cover her rent until her studies finish in 2016. Smashing the joys of being a mum :o

Access I remember - 1986 - just before my eldest daughter was born. Have been in debt since.

Thanks sgm, that's us mums all over. I'm really trying hard to let mine stand their own two feet now. It's really hard because you want to help them out, but I figure I've really got to think of myself now. It's not selfish, it's time for me to get ready to do what I want to do. I'm fed up of working really hard with nothing to show for it!

Thanks Puzz, I don't know about you, but I was shell shocked when I worked out how much was actually owing! Things moving now though. So I glad I went self managed.
