AngelPie78 posted this forum for people to HELP her and all I have seen from this is people being vile and nasty. Nobody is giving her the help she needs. "You say you can't budget - sure you can, just don't spend money on things you don't need" as you can see, this doesn't help her at all. We all have things we struggle with like I struggle with motivation, she struggles with money.

Obviously you're all old enough to know that you're being vile. It's childish and you either need to leave or give her the help she needs.

There is no other way of budgeting. You have to spend less than you've got coming in.

I'm not sure what other advice I can offer, because anything else would be completely and utterly wrong.

If she wants more specific advice perhaps she could post a Statement of Affairs and people would be happy to suggest some cutbacks.

    I've posted a SoA. People offered suggestions - some I took on board, some I didn't :)

Unfortunately, I don't have a switch in my head that automatically makes me great with money and I have tried to make changes over the last twenty years or so - without any success. I've had counselling, debt advice, friends and family involved and nothing has worked.

I'm at the end of the line and I'm desperate - hence coming on here {and getting a trail of abuse from people who think it's that easy to break a habit of a lifetime - I'm sure everyone has had the same problems when they've tried to lose weight [done that], give up smoking [done that] or anything else that requires commitment and a good hard look at yourself. I've done that - I've looked in the mirror, and I've come on here. Apparently, more is required and I can't do it - I am a failure...I fail at life...

And I completely understand your point BUT I am talking about the people who are not even trying to help her at all and are being horrible too her while she's asking for advice and help.

I have recently read through this thread and it should have not turned into the argument it has.

I'm not going through too find the quotes but maybe if you read the thread you would see that people have twisted her words.

I just don't think someone else managing your budget is a solution as it side steps the problem rather than tackling it head on. As soon as someone stops managing your budget you'll go deeper into debt again unless you learn how to handle your own finances. You can't allow someone to handle your budget forever.

Look at this way. You've tried overspending and you're clearly miserable. Why not try something different?

Find some cheap/free hobbies, learn to love the stuff you've already got. Experiment and find things other than spending money that make you happy.

You quoted my message at the same time as saying people were being vile and nasty, so I thought you were using me as an example. :p

Thanks for taking the time to reply...

I am seriously thinking that - with the way I know I am with money and spending - that if I can learn to have a good lifestyle {for me} on a minimal income, then I know I can stick to it. I need to just get started and go from there :) That's the aim anyway ;)

    Thanks again x

And yes, I genuinely think this whole thread is a joke now.
So why not stop posing on it. You are only upsetting yourself. Or is it another of your compulsions like the one to spend what you haven't got?

I have requested that this thread be closed. I don't think it has any use anymore.

Can't believe I spent 15 minutes reading this thread, should have stopped after the first page when I realised the OP wasn't going to take any notice of anyones advice!

I do read the OP's posts as being sarcastic and combative (as someone else pointed out).

They very much are. I'm impressed that people are still patiently trying to help her, given her attitude. Well done to people who are so generous, in the face of quite unpleasant responses.
