Megabus Ruined our Weekend

Well they offered an alternative. Me? I'd have gone as it seems a bit, cutting off your nose to spite your face IMO.
As they did offer a coach service, just not the bed. So if they had no bed buses available, they did provide a service in place of it.
You could've gone, just without the bed. So by not going you've then compounded your losses with the hotel and other things.
I would have expected megabus to refund the extra you paid for the bed, but no more, they ran the service.
IF you have a medical condition which means you needed the bed. I don't see from your op that you do, just a try it and see thing. That's what travel insurance is for.
Asking for consequential losses when you chose not to travel on their replacement service, I don't think you'll get very far.0 -
Term H in the Megabus T and C:
"h. No compensation will be offered if your journey is cancelled or delayed."
In other words, you will get a refund but not a sniff will you get compensation. If my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!0 -
I wouldn't have been happy either.
I wouldnt either but I would have still gone.
They provided a bus to go from A to B the OP declined, I am guessing he may get a refund for the Bus part but not for anything else.
OP I would have struggled to sleep as well but you would have got an hour or 2 of and on. at least I do when travelling long haul for 10 hours plus in an upright seat0 -

Yeah but if it had beds there couldn't originally been that many people on it. Meaning surely there then would have been enough seats to lie on as if it were a bed.0 -

were my bed to break at home my first thought would not be to grab a dining room chair.
but as a temporary measure would you not consider a sofa or armchair ? I've never travelled on Megabus but if it's like a normal coach (rather than a bus) I'd suggest that this is a fairer comparison that a dining room chair, especially as (as other posters have suggested) you would have almost certainly got at least a double seat on the coach.
Regardless I'm with the majority on this one - expect a refund of the ticket but nothing for consequential loss. If you took out travel insurance for the weeknd then try that, but I'm not sure whether any travel insurance policy would cover this situation.0 -
I once spent 29 hours upright in a seat going to Australia. Less legroom than a Mega Bus. It didn't spoil my holiday.
I doubt if you went there for the weekend!
A sleepless night means that following day is lost. Not a big deal if that is just the first day of a two-week holiday, but enough to make a weekend away pointless.0 -
Some people like to make a mountain out of a molehill. As per this thread most normal people would have shrugged it off, enjoyed what they can of the weekend and then complained when they got home.
You appear to have sabotaged your own weekend by declining the bus. I have been on bus journeys that lasted over 24 hours without a bed, we all lived and had a great time when we got there.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

My brother has more than once, this christmas he flew over from Sydney to Edinburgh for 3 days for a wedding. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Its a long way to travel to go to the cinema. Do they not have an Odeon in Cardiff?
Indeed. It's in the Red Dragon Centre by the bay. A lovely building, and Doctor Who was filmed there (in Screen 11)One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
