Ebay not refunding money for item not received

i think paying by creditcard, direct with a retailer, is the method to use whenever possible.
I've made may on-line payments over the last decade or so and paying through paypal as a guest doesn't look very different to me to paying via worldpay or sagepay etc.
If you have a paypal account then that's different.
I've just explained this to my OH who has been making on-line purchases for many years. He didn't know about this.0 -
you may be able to get them to support you outside of the normal S75 terms
I think that's worth a try.
I've had a small goodwill payment from Capital One in the past, so they do it sometimes.
I don't know about LLoyds, but you've got nothing to lose by trying.
If you've had a long relationship with them then I'd bring it up.0 -
Unfortunately, you fell between a rock and a hard place.
Ebay wont refund you because you're out of your 45 days and your credit card wont because you went via Paypal. This happens quite a lot and many people dont even realise the implications of paying via Paypal.
Don't know about the 45 day thing but you're wrong about banks not helping if you pay with card via paypal. Banks do chargeback even if card used as paypal guest etc. I was scammed on ebay last week for £250. Called Natwest as used visa debit card as a paypal guest and they refunded my account with the amount within 30 minutes and are now going after paypal to get it back.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

Certainly no harm in trying your CC - they can only say no.
Don't bother trying to get sense out of PP by email. Write to Paypal Compliance department via Recorded Delivery with full documentation of your issue. I've done this a couple of times and had success. But if you don't get any joy then forward everything to FOS. I've done this when I haven't gotten anywhere with PP and have always had a letter from PP fairly promptly apologising and offering an 'ex gratia' resolution.
Good Luck.0
