had to have a look at the Radley bag Monty as would have been very tempted but as I don't 'do' pink it was an easy thing to resist. Wish they did it in a different colour though.0

Haha I told my mum today and she said PINK??? What if it's a boy?
I said err mum it's my bag not the baby's!! :rotfl:0 -
lol mum's are funny/strange aren't they. even if I liked pink I think I would stay clear as hubby is taking over as SAHD so it wouldn't be fair to him, oh and it would clash with my pram/pushchair0

I have a belly bar Tia, haven't noticed that it's getting tight. Maybe I should check it! I keep meaning to buy one of the silicone ones off ebay to keep it open because I'm weirdly sentimental about it- it was my first ever act of teenage rebellion!
i definitely don't (or have ever had) the washboard abs to show it off!

Ok, so today I was joking about how clueless I am about what to buy for the wee one and one of the guys at work, who has had two wee ones, came over and kindly wrote me a list of things I would need to start us and the wee babba off
I would love to get feedback from either those who have been there and have the t-shirt or those who are clearly way ahead of the game than moi. Where I have (H) next to means take to hospital- Baby gro (H) x 3 buy in two sizes as not sure how big babba will be. However don't need to take all three to (H)
- Vests (H) x 3 however don't need to take all three to (H)
- Nappies (H)
- Nappy bags
- Baby wipes (H)
- Cotton balls for cleaning
- Warm clothes for coming home (babba) (H)
- Muslin squares (H)
- Moses basket and if hand me down/2nd hand, new mattress
- Car seat (H) illegal to travel even on bus/taxi without
- Baby bottles, steriliser and one small formula milk (in case for whatever reason unable to breastfeed) and don't have to send OH rushing around whilst baby might be screaming and hungry and I may be stressed/middle of night
- Baby bath and baby bath support
- Baby lotion for bath
- Blankets and sheets for cot/crib & cot/crib
- Change of clothes for me
- Long baggy t-shirt or unrestricted nighty for giving birth in (that has buttons so can do skin to skin)
- Towel
- Toiletries
- Drinks and snacks
- Camera/phone/charger
- Maternity bra
- Maternity pads
- Changes of underwear
- Brush/comb
Also a good tip is to go and check out what buggy/pushchair you want, try them out - check it's not too heavy and you and OH can easily maneuver. Then go to John Lewis and have them price match and also receive the three year warranty from them.
ps the wiggles are back, the wiggles are back! this time just under the bellybutton so not my digestive area...0 -

that's always the way! wait till they've kicked heck out of you and your OH or someone else puts their hand on your tummy to feel it, they're bound to stop then as well0

I couldn't be bothered doing anything useful at work this afternoon so sat down and did a few sums. Basically when I go back to work, after I've paid my pension contributions which I really want to keep up, and our sharesave scheme (which is worth scrimping for because it should kick out a decent lump sum at the end of the term), and allowing say £50 a day for childcare, most of my salary will be gone. I'm hoping to go back three days a week, but it'll probably leave me with about £300 a month  Even if I went back full time, after more childcare and petrol costs I would only be about £200 a month better off. I can see why people don't bother.
I'm still going to go back though, for lots of reasons. Like that I'd go mad without adult company, and it's an industry that you really have to keep up or you get left behind, and it'll be worth it for the pension contributions (my company pay in 10% of my gross salary, and increase my contribution by a further 10%). And my long term career prospects are a lot more hopeful than my husband's. But it would be so tempting to just jack it all in now I have a reasonable excuse :rotfl:
Are you all planning to go back to work or is too early to decide?0 -
It does seem to be different at different Hospitals Tia86! After my booking appt, my local midwife contacted the hospital, who wrote to me with the 12 week scan date. At the 12 week scan, the hospital asked me for any day in a 2 week period I couldn't do for the 20 week scan - I told them one day (my birthday - have a day out planned!) and they said they would send a letter to me. That was 9 June, so 16 days ago. Do you think I should call them, or is it normal to wait a while? I don't suppose it really matters what day it is, I'd just like to know
The sums are scary aren't they angeltreats? Not that I've done them in any detail! I'm intending something along the line of me working 4 days, OH working 3 days. That way I have one day alone with kiddie, he has two days alone with kiddie, one day grandparent care and one/two days nursery (assuming OH and I can work different days to each other, but have one/two days a week at home together with kiddie). Who knows how it'll work out though, eh?
No choice but to go back to work. If I could I'd stay home til kiddie started school, but I can't. We're soon to buy a house to put kiddie in, and we'll have to pay for it! The good news is, we accepted an offer on our house today (after the previous one fell through). Now to find one for us:beer:0
